{about me}

The female R&B quartet Xscape debuted singing at producer Jermaine Dupri's birthday party in 1991, and were the recipients of a platinum album just two years later. The quartet was formed around sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott, who had grown up in the church -- their father, Rev. Randolf Scott, performed in the R&B group the Scott Three during the early '70s. Rev. Scott began training the girls at an early age, and they eventually made the jump from the church to working talent shows around the area. While attending Tri-City High School in the Atlanta suburb of College Park, the sisters met Kandi Burruss and Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, forming Xscape in 1990. The second Xscape effort, Off the Hook made platinum with top singles, Feels So Good, Cant Hang, Do You Want to? and Who Can I Run To? which charted at 1 on Billboards Hot R&B/Hip Hop singles. Xscape released three singles from their third platinum album, Traces of My Lipstick, which all made it to the top 10 of the Billboard Top 100. Over the course of a few years, Xscape has collaborated with some of the most well-known R&B producers and song-writers in the business including: Baby face, Brian McKnight, Keith Sweat, Mariah Carey, and Diane Warren. On Unchained, the fearsome foursome have upgraded their signature up-tempo grooves and slinky, heartfelt ballads with new twists, turns, and melodic complexities.
