Biography

“(X=Y) is all about escapism. We entertain people, piss 'em off, make 'em happy, get 'em drunk and get 'em laid. It’s not a life-changing experience, but it is a necessary release.”



Loud, abrasive and groove-conscious is the direct way to describe (X=Y). Established in 2004, six guys emerged on the Detroit music scene, immediately making a name and leaving a mark. In short order (X=Y) entered Cloud City Studios with producer Nick Morris to record their first EP, 2005's Until Something Better Comes Along.

2007 saw (X=Y) returning to the studio, again with Morris, to record (X=Y), EP 2.



In October 2008 (X=Y) released the full length Waking Up in Strange Places. In between the recording-and-release end of things, (X=Y) has handled their business live by destroying stages across the midwest.
