His mixtapes began to flood the neighborhoods rapidly gaining the recognition he was going for. So far he has put out three volumes to this series. State of Mind vol.1 dropped in the summer of 06.It got him some street buzz as he began hustling his mixtapes on the streets. In 2007 he put out State of Mind vol.2 .This mixtape contains tracks like "Stay in a Fitted" and "Can't Bring Me Down". In 2008 he put out his State of Mind vol.3 mixtape. This mixtape contains tracks like "I'm Focused" and "Look at my Kicks". He also began to perform at local clubs around the Los Angeles and Long Beach areas, making a name for himself. He is always known to get the crowd hyped. Derrick is a motivated individual who has once faced adversity while living on the streets.Around that time,D.M began to work hard on his music while making his name known. His music is based on his many experiences throughout his life. He is a person who likes to have a good time so you are going to hear that in his music.He also reflects on some of life's more deeper situations.Situations that he has been through and situations that the people around him have also been through.Still, known for his dark sound and witty wordplay, he knows how to get people moving on a good note.
