In the midst of the latest hard rock revolution, the Garden State’s best kept secret, MEAN VENUS is about to raise it’s ugly head and emerge amongst some of the best bands on the New Jersey music scene. MEAN VENUS is an all original modern hard rock band that hails from the bowels of New Jersey, forming in early 2006. The music of the mighty MEAN VENUS is an explosion of raw energy fueled by years of studio, stage, and songwriting experience. The band’s 2008 self-produced and self-financed debut CD, PCP was received with overwhelmingly flattery by critics and fans alike. Hard-edged rockers like “Let the Feelings Go”, “Midlife Crisis”, and “A Vision” show that this band can rock with the big boys, while the power ballads like “Invisible”, “Happy Here”, and “A Little Piece” prove that MEAN VENUS has capabilities to crossover to Top 40. MEAN VENUS’s recent sophomore effort—Crazy Ass American--is sure to continue the ascent of the band as the reception to the album's title track and first single has been near ecstatic!

MEAN VENUS singer/songwriter, known merely by the initial ‘J’, began his musical journey at a young age. With a father that who was a rock singer, it was inevitable that J would uphold the family tradition. J’s musical career started out as drummer, he drifted to guitar playing, and soon became obsessed with writing his own songs by the time he was a teen. Through the years, J piled up stage and studio credits as a drummer, bassist, vocalist, and guitarist, performing coast to coast with various bands. It was when J got sick of relying on other musicians that he decided to put his own band together—MEAN VENUS! J would recruit long time friend and lead guitarist Marcelo Cardosa, who played with every incarnation of the band since the beginning and even helped produce the PCP CD. On rhythm guitar, J brought in former Trimm guitarist, Adrian Freyre, who was no stranger to playing high profiled shows. Adrian, who is a self-taught guitar player, decided to take guitar lessons when he was young, but quit after 3 weeks because Metallica's “Seek and Destroy” was not in the curriculum. After years of stage and studio experience, Adrian developed his own style of crunching guitar riffs that he counterbalanced with a gifted sense of melody. Once in the band, Adrian requested that J hire his Trimm cohort, Russ Ippoliti to play drums. Russ brings a hard hitting dynamic to the band with an unbelievable sense of timing. Not to mention, he’s the baby of the band! The most recent member to join MEAN VENUS is bass playing madman Chigger, whom is no stranger to the New Jersey music scene. Chigger played bass for the popular North Jersey bands Smoke Star and Hostel Inc., which featured Ray West from Spread Eagle. Chigger brings an energy to the band that is second to none and can only be experienced at a MEAN VENUS live performance!

In 2008, MEAN VENUS was honored to headline Hawaiian Chopper Magazine's Motorhead Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. Also in 2008, they landed a coveted slot at the Clearwater Festival. In the past three years, MEAN VENUS secured opening slots for many national acts including 7Mary3, Skid Row, Extreme, Ratt, Rainbow, Kings X, Dokken, L.A. Guns, Stryper, and UFO. As radio airplay around the country begins to build, so does MEAN VENUS’s popularity!
