“Open the doors, or I’m bargin’ in.” These lyrics serve as a motto for up and coming, hip-hop phenomenon, “World Premiere,” also known as “World P” or “Pre Dot.” Hailing from the thorough-breeding grounds of Paterson, N.J., he has put in the necessary work and rightfully earned his street-given alias as, “The Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather of this rap shit.” When he isn’t spending hard hours grinding in the studio, recording banger after banger, he’s out and about on the streets, promoting, networking, building stronger relationships with fans and supporters and inspiring his peers to work harder, encouraging them to go for the things they want out of life. Delivering thoughtful, hard-hitting, meaningful lyrics on every verse, he gives his audience his real experiences.
Since the arrival of the new millennium, P has been working to make a stand-alone name for himself. He is a member of the locally, well-respected crew of young hip-hop artists/lyricists, better known as “The Hoodlums.” The name was given to them by Paterson mix-tape legend, DJ Talent. The group was founded by, and consists of, 3 rappers, Wahbeans aka Beans, Skyllz aka Skylla Illa and World P. The crew also includes two DJs, DJ Shyne & DJ Donnie Dee.
Soon after The Hoodlums were formed, they smashed the streets of Paterson’s mix-tape scene, releasing volume after volume of Hoodlums CDs and tapes. They also featured on multiple mix-tapes hosted by different Paterson DJs, performed at local shows and collaborated with a number of other local artists, which only helped their respect and support from the city to grow stronger. The Hoodlums crew would later expand to create a movement called M&M Boys (Money & Music), featuring artists, AC Holly, Tah Money, S.G., as well as a host of other very talented individuals. To this day, the members of the crew are still working together as well as setting their own marks independently.P has overcome some very tough obstacles and hardships in the recent years, including the loss of his beloved mother, as well as the incarceration of group member, Beans, and other close friends. Since then, he has been the epitome of a hard grinder who leads by example. He has released a host of mix-tapes, including “Pardon My Swag,” “Calm N Cooly,” and “World P for Mayor.” These mix-tapes illustrate his hunger, versatility, lyrical talent and skill with music production & engineering. He has hosted many events for the youth of Paterson, including dance parties, which keep young men and women of the city out of trouble, as well as give them something safe and fun to do with their weekend nights. Not long ago, he hosted one of his parties at the St. Gerard’s music hall on the north side of Paterson. In attendance was teenager and friend, Tequan “T-Rip” Brown. Later that night, Tequan Brown was slain on his way home, as a result of fatal bullet wounds. Although P’s party and Tequan’s slaying were not connected, Tequan’s death was still heartfelt by P, motivating him to release “Keep The Violence Out Of Paterson” flyers. The flyers served as a wake up call to the city and rest in peace tribute to Tequan Brown and youngsters alike who die at the hands of senseless violence each year on Paterson streets.
World P has released a number of music videos, which can be seen on youtube, myspace and other web communities. He has recorded and released multiple original singles, which include tracks produced by Donnie Dee, Shyne and B. Real. He has been working with DJs, such as DJ Big Rome and various others. He seems to have the personality, longevity, courage, understanding and tough skin it takes to make it in the industry. With all the work that one does, comes the reality that there is only more work to be done. World P understands this, making him one artist/street intellectual/fly guy that is well deserving of the respect he demands from everyone.
