Wooden Finger is a mass of contradictions in both process and execution. Formed in 2004, the musical marriage of classically trained vocalist Allison Jenkins and self-taught multi instrumentalist Matthew Magee humbly began as a loose collection of basement tapes. Together they began crafting haunting music rooted deeply in traditional folk and classical themes while continuing to explore contemporary structure and instrumentation. The end product of their often cinematic collaboration resulted in 2005's "All This TimeStill We're Lost" a dark and emotional journey rife with themes of Southern Gothicism in the literary vein of Flannery O'Conner.
The band has since expanded in both range and instrumentation, adding journeyman members Ryan Baucum on bass and Chip Burr on drums. The addition continues to lead the band into different sonic territory by retaining the ethereal textures of the duo's previous work while expanding further into stronger rhythmic yet often whimsical soundscapes. The end product is an emotional journey founded in rock n' roll and baroque pop leaving the listener both haunted and enthralled. The band plans to release their new album "Take and See and Do What You Want" in the Summer 2011.
