In early 2003, four young men with music in their sole, decided to pick up an instrument.

For Ricky Nahuatlato, its was bass. Growing up he idolized bassists like Jason Newsted and the late Cliff Burton (yes, a big Metallica fan). The chance to take an instrument like the bass, which was usually hidden in the background, and bring it to the front of the stages like they did really called out to Ricky.

Gus Gomez on the other hand felt the need to beat on shit with sticks! He got him self his first drum set and loved it. Also a big Metallica fan (come on who wasn’t back in high school) he thought Lars was a god! He studied great drum legends and found himself amazed at what was possible with two pieces of wood and some buckets.

Also starting off on bass, was Danny Medina. When he got his first bass he was ecstatic, playing it for hours right out the box. Months past and Danny’s father told him, “ok you can play the bass…. Now lets go get you a guitar”. but in all honesty Danny didn’t want to play guitar. He found it over complicated, as he used to say “ I don’t know if I can handle 6 strings!” but the weekend came and him and his dad went to the SWAP O RAMA and found an old fender knock off for 50 bucks, it was a beautiful candy red. Danny’s dad handed him the guitar and said, “ In one week I want to hear you playing this as good as you play the bass”…, and ever since then, he’s been in love with 6 strings.

Another bass player was Juan Garcia, he started off as a bassist but soon turned to guitar for a bigger challenge. With a lot of musical experience in his childhood, picking up another instrument was bound to happen.

And so the stage was set for four guys to grow, learn and play together, all in one small, hot attic. They practiced just about every day after school in Gus' grandma's attic, I’m sure they drove her crazy. All four members learning together may have been what set these players apart in the future, they found there own way to play, a unique style that could only be forged under the extreme conditions of that attic.

About a year passed and the band felt a need to play live shows ( yeah I know, one year and they thought they where the shit!) so the search for a singer started.

.

His name was Gabriel Zavala, or as we call him, Bob. He was a big music enthusiast that loved to scream his guttural lows. He was a cousin of a close friend to the band, and we decided to try him out…. We liked what we heard.

The five then needed to finally decide on a name. the band went through many fazes, some names too embarrassing to even type! But they all finally decided to be called, Witness To The End.

Together, they played many shows, and had a lot of fun. At this point in the bands life, drummer, Gus Gomez started to fall out of place. Showing a lack of dedication the band decided to dismiss him from the group. They tried out many drummers over months, but no one could cut it. Not one person who tried out had the skill that Gus had within him.

But something still wasn’t clicking. Although Bob was a great vocalist, it just wasn’t a perfect match for the style the other members had. So the search was on for yet another singer.

They soon found Fabian. Fabian Velasco was first seen by the guys as he performed with his old band, Failing to Regret. Soon after that performance he parted with the band and he was theirs for the taking! They loved his vocals and offered him a spot. Because of his varied influences, Fabian had range and technique that fit perfectly into the mix.

With Fabian now in the band, Gus made his triumphant return to Witness To The end. More enthusiastic, determined and ready to rock.

The new and improved Witness To The End was set to grow and prosper in the scene. They played many many shows, recorded an E.p, and even went on to be signed to a major record label. Ok not that last part.

But after years of playing together, one member decided it was time for him to move on to other projects. Juan Garcia left the band in 2008, leaving Witness To The End suddenly, and unexpectedly. Without warning, the band struggled to find a replacement who could fit the shoes of our former rhythm guitarist.

They searched for many months but found no one who could take over, until they met Sebastian Max Vasquez.

When Sebastian tried out the band had a lot of hope in him. But there was something about his style that was better suited for bass. they decided it was time to bring Ricky up in the ranks, and makes him a guitar player. Sebastian took over on bass and the transition was flawless!

With Juan gone and a new line up in place, the band felt it was wrong to continue into the future with their former name. “Witness was the old us, we can be different now, we can grow as musicians now…. Now we are Observe The Skies.

Through years of practice and hardships, everything now seems to be falling into place. Currently writing all new material, recording in the near future and the urge to play shows, Observe The Skies is coming back, and they are coming back stronger than ever.
