William Besson, singer songwriter based in Paris refers to his sound as

Electri-pop a mixture of electro, trip-hop and pop. In common with other electro musicians like Mylo and Portishead his sound defies easy categorisation. He lists Jim Morrison, Ben Harper and Depeche Mode as influences but his music is best understood in its own context, "I am really trying to create something that is mine. I dont think Ive succeeded yet but I am getting there, I think, little by little"

A classically trained vocalist he plays guitar and bass. The hip-hop and classic pop elements are a vital part of his structure but he is primarily an electronic musician. It is his rich and sometimes ominous voice that reaches into the audience and lifts the sound from being just another techno based theme. There is something of the The The where the voice perpetually catches the listener off guard.

Born in France he writes and sings in English. 1984 was written in 2004 and has set the pace of his first album. It is his most original musically. Moonsong and On the wane, from the same album, are less musically precise but do let you closer to William as a songwriter. He has struggled in the past with bringing the lyrics out of his native French but now finds them a way to express aspects of himself that are both very personal but able to be interpreted by each listener, should they need to.

In person he mixes a refreshing irreverence to what is expected of him with a sometimes surprising sensitivity to his surroundings and the impact that people have on each other. "There has got to be some sort of impact on the world or else there is no point. I think there is always a mix in my lyrics of melancholy and hope. Kind of bitter sweet helplessness but the sensation that something worth it stands out, whatever it is."

He has been performing live since October 2005, which has had an expected impact on the sound of the original album. There is added emotion in the live performance. Singing and playing over pre-made beats makes the end result neither band nor DJ but introduces Williams character into the music. VJs Punkvert of Big Chill

Love music, hate racism have interpreted the music into images. This visual addition to the performance not only escorts the lyrics but is as much about providing a show, image has become part of music and it is a plus point of the live gigs.

The focus of the next year will be for more live performances and the hope of air time. It is also about taking the music to the next level. "I want to affirm the style that was starting to emerge in the first album. It will be about creating songs with the classic verse-chorus-bridge but giving it an unprecedented electronic warmth, I will try to make it more meaningful by adding a more human feel on top of it"

As with the first album the lyrics remain an important part of the music, another shift away from more traditional electronic habit. He continues with the theme of finding an identity in a crazy world that we so easily get lost in. With the sound growing in depth and pace with each new track we look forward to the next album and hope that his voice continues to resonate.
