This outfit includes former members of the Honor System and Sweep the Leg Johnny, but where those bands' songs are dense, Whale|Horse's are tense. Sharply crafted tunes like "Pain Don't Hurt" and "While You Were Sleeping" (from their self-recorded, self-released debut EP, Count the Electric Sheep) stretch lean postpunk hooks so tight you can bounce a quarter off them (J. Niimi - Chicago Reader) Great name for a band and a great logo of a horse head attached to a whale body. Good Writing and very catchy hooks. Watch out for this band in 2007. Their music is available for purchase right now on Myspace. Grab a track, Show some love. (Billy Zero - The Radar Report) Whale|Horse is a local post-punk act worth taking note of. The EP consists of six well-crafted, anxiety-ridden, high-energy songs that quickly grow on you with every play. The best track by far is the roller coaster ride/indie rock anthem "While Your Were Sleeping", that I can only imagine will sound even better live. (Sharyn Goldyn - Chicago Innerview)
