VIR

Vir are a trio from Oakland, with roots in Christchurch New Zealand, who
conjure up an almighty racket on “Gillespie”, their second album. Taking
their cues from shoegaze, post-punk and Rock 'n Roll bluster, their music
is gloriously unsubtle, experimental rock that packs a huge punch.
in July 2010 Vir will release their 2nd full length record "Gillespie"
through Vibraphone records. The album's release will be followed with a
West Coast tour and local shows.
“Gillespie” contends with a search for heritage and sense of place amongst
an urban environment of absence” explains singer and guitarist, Sam
Sloane. The songs were written whilst traveling through New Zealand's
South Island before returning to the U.S to record.
