Not bad for the young artist from Durban.
Verd has not only proven himself as a capable artist but also as a capable businessman with a strong head for business. He is an astute businessman who owns 50% of his own recording studio called Brotherhood Productions. Verd (50% ownership) and Vally (50% ownership) both serve as the company's directors. They write songs, produce and develop new artists into the music industry, all while balancing musical careers. In the space of his explosive career, Verd has garnered a history of committed and focused social development activism.
From 2006 to date, Verd has been to over 100 schools giving them a performance together with a motivational speech against piracy, women abuse, child abuse, hiv/aids, drug and alcohol abuse with no funding from sponsorships.
Many of the children are in need of an extra hand to provide support and struggle with the challenges in their community, while others face less obvious difficulties which go unpublished in the media. Verd aims to support all those who are vulnerable.
Verd and his management focus to give these children a "hand up" and not a "hand out" as so many non-profit organisations do. He uses the art of music and dance to instill confidence and pride in these children for what they do and who they are. The aim is not to develop professional singers and dancers, but behind this campaign, to develop bright positive individuals who persevere no matter what their circumstances may be.
His noble efforts to contribute in a meaningful way to the South African society have earned him consistent accolades and plaudits for initiatives such as:
•Backstage Aids Benefit Concert
•Annual Sunflower Fund Charity Events
•Youth gatherings and churches
•International Bank Vaults VIP children's Day
•Charity events for orphanages
•Awareness Project School tour, promoting positive lifestyles as well as awarenesses such as:
a)HIV/AIDS
b)Drug & Alcohol abuse
c)Women and child abuse
d)Piracy
•Global economy program providing computer courses FREE of charge.
•East Coast Radio's "BIG WALK" Family day
•Aryan Benevolent home council charity fair
•Durban South Basin charity event for children
•Chatsworth children's home
•WOC – " WE help OUR CHILDREN"
•WOW – "WOMEN OF WENTWORTH"
•Phoenix Charity Fair
Final Thought
Verds phenomenal success has therefore given him comprehensive publicity and promotional campaigns, coupled with rave reviews and recognition from SA' s press building him a strong national profile as an artist and celebrity in SA.
To all intents and purposes, Verd remains a contemporary popular music idol that shatters traditional market barriers and has retained a large following that triumphantly crosses social, cultural and economic barriers. Verd is indeed a role model to all the youth in South Africa.
