"NEMESIS"CD(BIG BLUE 2011)
This is the seventh studio album,the first in seven years and the second to feature the duo of ALEX NOVAK(VOX)and ANDREW DENTON(GUITAR).
"NEMESIS" draws on many inspirations lyrically, including victoriana,spiritualism,sherlock holmes,sixties politics,paris,
film references(spot them),sci fi and the space race.
Musically they have been compared to a myriad of bands joy division,doors,sisters,nin,hawkwind.but post-punk meets
dark electronica wearing rose tinted psychedelic shades seems to fit.
The CD artwork was also put together by the duo,a homage to forgotten 78rpm record design.
HISTORY-
Formed in NORTHAMPTON-UK(famous for BAUHAUS goth pioneers and ALAN MOORE cult comic writer) after parting company with electronic outfit ATTRITION in the late 1980s.
Early releases came out via French label DANCETERIA that led to tours of France,Belgium,Germany.european interest
has always been strong leading to further albums being released by AZYL(Czech Republic),SPECTRE(Germany),SOUNDBUSTER(Germany)and SPV(Germany/Poland).
There have been many tours taking them to France,Belgium,Holland,Germany,CzechRepublic,Slovakia,Italy,Hungary,Austria,Poland and Finland.
The back catalogue was re-issued with new artwork by BIG BLUE in 2002.
VENUS FLY TRAP are a hard band to pigeonhole,taking their influences from many sources and amalgamating them into a congealed whole.
