van*gloria formed in 2005 at the University of Miami. Their self-titled first album ("The Pink Elephant Album") was largely written during Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma and recorded at their quiet South Miami home. Countless shows ensued - at smoky pubs, dance clubs, suburban malls, house parties, once even some sort of wakeboarding competition - and in 2009 van*gloria released their second album, "Bluebird," which expanded upon their first album's jazz/rock/R&B sound by adding horns, strings, woodwinds, clattering percussion, and dense electronic textures.
After the release of "Bluebird," van*gloria embarked on a six-week, 23-date tour of the eastern U.S., the band adding longtime friend Andrew Maguire on percussion and keyboards to help recreate the second album's lush sound in a live setting. Currently van*gloria is not actively touring or performing, as its members now live in Miami, California, and Australia, but in these uncertain times, who knows what the future holds for these distinguished gentlemen?
