LIVE VERSION OF JONI MITCHELL'S "HEJIRA"

Vanessa Jacquemin is a singer-songwriter born and raised in New York. Towards the end of her studies at Brown University, she spent a year in Brazil where she fell in love with the country's pop music. Upon her return to New York, Vanessa sang with Brazilian pop bands in clubs such as Café Wha?, S.O.B.S, and The Village Underground. After two years in this music scene, she decided to focus on her own compositions, which steered towards pop, rock and folk. She also desired a change of setting to enrich her musical journey, so she packed her bags and moved to Paris, France. A month after her arrival, she met her future husband and musical partner, Alex Jacquemin, a talented jazz/rock guitarist and composer. She was intrigued with the thriving Paris jazz scene, and saw her immersion in it as an enhancement to her pop approach. Vanessa performed in clubs and jazz festivals (Jazz in Marciac, Sunset Jazz Club.), and had the opportunity to go on two tours as a lead vocalist with the acid jazz band, Brooklyn Funk Essentials. These tours introduced her to major European stages, and on some dates, let her experience the thrill of performing in front of more than 50,000 people.

This eclectic mix of different styles and genres solidified Vanessa Jacquemin's musical vision. These this debut album speaks for itself. No boundaries, and no categorizations!
