V1rtual D3scent began as a project in the late 1990's. Inspired and influenced by the new influx of attention & talent flooding the Chicago underground, the duo found themselves immersed in the new industrial sounds of bands like Front Line Assembly, Project Pitchfork, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, In Strict Confidence, :Wumpscut:, SMG & many others. With a desire to create and a new found inspiration in something so deep and profound, Scott picked up his first synth and quickly began learning the finer points of sound manipulation and music production. Not long after he had tracks ready that we're complete in all aspects but one. At the time, Vocalist & Song Writer Erich Fate was an active guitarist for a local metal band. Having a reputation for writing, a passion for music and an inate ability to learn anything he could get his hands on, Scott approached him about the frontman slot. The duo recorded their first single entitled "Shadow Of Prophecy" in late 1999. With aggressive vocals and deep synths and piano they quickly found their nitche. While dealing with school, work and everyday life, 2000 found Erich Fate moving to Wisconsin. Not giving up on their dream of music, the duo managed to continue to evolve, learn, and create music with frequent trips and patience, but it wasn't until both decided to move to the country of Southern Illinois that V1rtual D3scent started taking true form.
With nothing much to do in the realm of interest for Scott & Erich Fate, for 7 years they delved into perfecting their art. Working with many local & professional musicians, producers, engineers & teachers on a daily basis proved to be invaluable to their evolution and rise, and the duo was finally ready to put their hard work and knowledge to the test.
2007 proved to be a turning point and just another step forward. Teaming up with Vinny Saletto (Genitortures, Telemetry) provided a new realm and understanding of music and the music business, and the finding their talented live guitarst, Derek Brock. In summer / fall of 2007 V1D3 found themselves primed, ready, and certain of their direction while recording the final four tracks of their debut release "Darkened Skies". "I Vivisect" "Hurt" "1000 Tears" and "Unit 731" would be a measure of both growth and direction. Shortly after the final four were recorded press kits went out to promoters around the world and V1rtual D3scent quickly gained international attention and review.
In late 2007 / early 2008 while talking to several record labels in the U.S., V1rtual D3scent proudly found a home in the hellectro camp of Tommy T. and DSBP Records along side such amazing acts as Angels On Acid, Derma-Tek, Encoder, Diverje, Tau Factor, Ionic Vision, Boundless, in-FUSED Vertigo Venus, Noise Proccess & new addition Man + Machines.
2008 has proven to be another stepping stone and busy year with no signs of letting up. In January V1D3 found themselves performing their first show in St. Louis with -23db Recording artists Lost Signal. Shortly after, they appeared with Accessory & I:Scintilla, & headlining two shows in St. Louis and Chicago. In June V1rtual D3scent released their highly anticipated debut "Darkened Skies" to an amazing reception, and finding tracks such as "I Vivisect" "1000 Tears" and "Hurt" stapled daily and weekly into radio stations and clubs around the world. Featured and reviewed in some of the biggest resources, magazines and websites in the genre, and recently remixing bands such as Angels On Acid, Derma-Tek, Encoder, Assemblage23 & Virtual Victim (can be heard at www. myspace. com/v1d3remix) and an amazing surprise remix in the works, V1D3 has only just begun.
With bigger plans in sight, V1rtual D3scent is constantly evolving in all aspects. Looking to build on the sounds and ideas that have made "Darkened Skies" such a success, V1D3 is hard at work creating the next evolution due to be released at the beginning of 2009. With a heavy focus on the club scene and a new inspiration V1rtual D3scent expects to turn it up a notch with their next release and will be announcing some big plans and key additions in refining their sound and live experience in the upcoming weeks and months. Now teamed up with Missionary / Massmovement and a focus and stern determination on bringing V1rtual D3scent to every city not only in the U.S. but Europe and Russia as well, the future is limitless.
