Universal Stomp

Universal Stomp started in 1994 in Garden City MI. Dave , Scott and Jeff had been together in an earlier incarnation of the band known as Corrupt. We soon got together with Aaron and moved to the Loft in Redford. Along came Ed screaming at our door and walla the band was formed. We found our way to Overture Records in Novi by way of Aaron and proceeded to record our first Cd "The Stomping of Jake". While releasing this CD and playing every venue from Blondies to the Ritz to St Andrews to The Mosquito(Token) to The State Theater, Stomp built quite an impressive following. We soon found ourselves back in the studio recording our second Cd "Full Swing". This is the one that really got us moving. Soon we found ourselves on our first of many short tours. after the first jaunt down the East Coast, Jeff found himself wanting to pursue other things. After many a trying Drummer tryout we hooked up with Mike"Mikeylove"Dufour. We proceeded to tour the United States for weeks at a time playing everywhere from CBGB's in NY to L.A. and back. Back home in Detroit we were given the opportunity to open for many national acts. Machine Head, Suicidal Tendencies, Clutch, COC, Forbidden, Overkill, Gwar and of course the most contriversal Dokken show at the Ritz. I remember the chant of "You Suck" from the accepting Dokken crowd. Regardless it was worth it. As we resumed writing new material with Mikey, he moved on to other things and Jeff rejoined the band to make it the way it should have been all along. Back in the studio we went to record "2296" which propelled us to new heights. This ended up being the end of recording for us but after all the great shows, all the great people we met and the stories from the road, we will always have nothing but the best memories. All of us had moved on to other local bands and projects but we still remain the best buds. Not to mention we have the tendency to reform every few years for a reunion show which gives us the opportunity to play for all our friends and local fans as without their support we wouldnt have gotten off the ground!
