_____________________UniRoyal, that's Jazz at its finest and enjoying performing at the same time. Under this name, twelve young musicians from the Goettinger scene have joined forces, with one common goal: the fun with playing music. The international Mini Big Band (D/CH/PL) – so they like to call themselves most of the time – unites an amazing Big Band-Sound with creative Solo improvisations and presents at gigs the entire spectrum of Jazz. At UniRoyal all musicians are ensemble players as well as soloists. A fully fletched five-piece horn collective and the groovy rhythm section consisting of piano/rhodes, guitar, bass, percussion, and drums lay the harmonic foundation for creative soli and the vocals from Katrin Lehmann and the rap star Fickna.
Katrin Lehmann interprets with her charismatic voice styles as seemingly dissimilar as Swing, Soul and Latin, among them classics like „Moondance" or „Honeysuckle rose". Her soulful and sensitive side are protrayed in Jazz ballads including „Kissing a fool". Changing gears - Fickna melts down musical borders and amalgates Jazz and Rap to an AAA-rated style, be respectful and don't try this at home, kids.
A concert with UniRoyal is nourished by the interplay between instrumental and vocal features, between classical Swing (I won't dance), groovy Funk (Pick up the pieces), imaginative Be Bop (Ms. B.C.), hot Latin-Jazz (Mas que nada) and virtuoso Fusion (Some Skunk Funk). UniRoyal's mission is simple, delivering an evening of entertainment and feel-good time.
As shining symbol of Goettingen's Jazz scene, the young musicians already
represented their city in the partner cities of Torun (Poland) and in Cheltenham (UK). They jazzed in Marrakech (Marocco) at the International Music festival in 2007 and 2008. Moreover, UniRoyal has become an institution at the Goettingen Jazz-Festival, where they play in 2008 for the seventh time in a row.

_____________________UniRoyal, das ist Jazz vom feinsten und Spielfreude pur. Unter diesem Namen
haben sich zwölf junge Musiker aus der Göttinger Szene vereint, die vor
allem eines verbindet: Der Spaß an der Musik. Die internationale Mini Big Band (D/CH/PL) – so bezeichnen
sie sich am liebsten selber - vereint einen klangvollen Big Band-Sound mit
kreativer Solo-Improvisation und präsentiert auf Konzerten die ganze Bandbreite des
Jazz. Bei UniRoyal sind alle Musiker gleichermaßen Ensemble-Spieler und Solisten.
Eine eingeschliffene fünfköpfige Bläser-Sektion und die groovende Rhythmus-
Gruppe bestehend aus Klavier bzw. Rhodes, Gitarre, Bass, Percussion und
Schlagzeug bilden das musikalische Gerüst für die kreativen Soli und den Gesang
von Katrin Lehmann sowie den Rap von MC Fickna.
Katrin Lehmann interpretiert mit ihrer charismatischen Stimme gekonnt Stücke aus
Swing, Soul und Latin, darunter Klassiker wie „Moondance" oder „Honeysuckle rose". Ihre gefühlvolle Seite zeigt sie dann
wiederum bei Jazz-Balladen wie „Kissing a fool". Fickna wiederum bringt die Band ganz anders auf Trab - der Mann am Sprechgesang lässt Jazz&Rap verschmelzen, eine harte Legierung , don't try this at home!
Ein Konzert mit UniRoyal lebt von dem Wechselspiel zwischen Instrumental und
Gesangsstücken, zwischen klassischem Swing (I won't dance), groovigen Funk (Pick
up the pieces), verspieltem Be Bop (Ms. B.C.), feurigem Latin-Jazz (Mas que nada)
und virtuosem Fusion (Some Skunk Funk). Vor allem bietet ein Abend mit UniRoyal
viel Abwechslung.
Als Aushängeschild Göttingens vertraten die jungen Musiker ihre Stadt bereits in den
Partnerstädten polnischen Torun und in Cheltenham in England. Am Internationalen Musikfestival in Marrakesch (Marokko) jazzten die Herrschaften unter tosendem Applaus. Außerdem ist
UniRoyal mittlerweile ein fester Bestandteil des Göttinger Jazz-Festivals geworden,
wo sie auch 2008 bereits zum siebten Mal in Folge spielen werden, diesmal mit dem Geiegnvirtuosen Jala El-Allouli aus Marrakech.
Und im 2008, UniRoyal präsentiert ihr neues Album "Perpetuum jazzimile".
