Miguel AKA MiC StaRR

Born and raised in New York City and surrounded by a very musically oriented family, producer, writer, singer, Miguel Antonio Vasquez is chock-full of family anecdotes that marks his professional and personal life. Son of Grammy Award winner MILLY QUEZADA, Migz has always known and dreamed of a musical career. Mom always talks about how while pregnant with me, shed have to step out of the clubs or any other venue because Id be continuously bouncing in her belly to the rhythm of the music. His dad, the late Rafael Vasquez, began the legendary MILLY JOCELYN & LOS VECINOS Orchestra, and impressed upon Miguel, the love for music and the value of having vision and persistence in order to succeed in this highly competitive field. My dad dreamed and realized the goal of making his band well known; hed always bring home different percussion instruments from their long tours and I learned to play them on my own.

Gifted with perfect pitch Migz developed his musical talents throughout High School. He was 2nd lead trumpet for the Bergenfield High School Band, and also performed in the Drama team, Vocal Ensemble Choir and Vocal Contemporary Classical Music Choir. In 2004 and under the direction of Broadway performer Karen Babcock, he played the role of Bernardo in the Academy Award winning musical The West Side Story, for the JCC Performing Arts Center. His love for music led him to build his own at-home recording studio where hes developed his production skills and where hes given life and form to the concept of the group he calls UNIQ. The group is a hybrid of all the music that has influenced my life; Merengue, Salsa, Hip-Hop and R&B rhythms are all intertwined with Spanish and English lyrics I produce.

In 1997 and upon his moms return to the music industry, Miguel joined the family business and has sung side by side with her traveling all over the world. The past nine years have given me the opportunity to sharpen my stage performance and producing skills which I hope to translate into a group of my own. UNIQ is a musical concept borne out of pride and love for Miguels Latino heritage and passion for the performing arts.
