The band started out in December of 1999 with original members Mike Tole, Joe Newland, Ron Tole and Joshua Kaminsky. It was the first time any of them had ever been in a band, so it was a learning experience for all. Before their first show, the group suffered the tragic loss of their bassist, Joshua Kaminsky, who passed away in a car accident. Unsure of their future, they searched for a replacement for Josh. Unable to fill his shoes, the remaining members decided to stay together having Ron pick-up the bass in Josh's place, keeping the original lineup intact. The incident of Josh's death and the feeling of things being left "undone" created the band's name, UNFINISHED BUSINESS.

From there they went on to record a five-track demo and started playing at small clubs and bars throughout Southern California. As the band's talent matured and their following grew they decided to bring in a second guitar player, Ian Young, to fulfill the band's needs. After a few months of shows and hard work the band was still missing the final touch it had been looking for. With motivation to proceed to the next level, they parted ways with original member, Joe Newland, and found Tom Borboa.

With the new line-up in tact, Mike, Tom, Ian, and Ron Recorded an 8 song demo which they quickly pushed at shows and to the local kids. It was accepted with praise and the boys became even more excited to record again. After months of writing, they went into the studio for a second time to record their first full length album entitled," Twenty Thirty Five", a loving tribute to all of their freinds and supporters. After geting the album finished, UB hit the road for a 3 week US tour. The tour brought the band closer together and gave them the experience that they needed to become a real touring band. But the elation would not last long

In early 2006 the band was in turmoil. Musical desires were conflicting, and Ian eventually left the band. With Ryan Cano stepping in the band took a took a turn toward more hardcore-influenced music, but the remaining members agreed the sound was completely different from the original UB. A few months later Unfinished Business was finished.
