Un azar venturoso unió los hados de este sexteto madrileño que forman Martí Perarnau (voz, guitarras y sintetizadores), Mikel Alberdi (guitarras, piano), Irene Bonilla (bajo), Clara Martínez (voz), Peter Velardo (batería) y Javi Castellano (sintetizadores). Una génesis meteórica les llevó directamente a la final del proyecto demo 2005. Después las canciones de Suburban Metronome (2006) les pusieron en órbita. Y ahora, el cielo.
What Crisis? This Crisis, el segundo disco de UNDERWATER TEA PARTY, es la colección de singles más arrebatadora del pop patrio de los últimos años. Un repertorio de canciones de factura impecable que resume todo lo que nos gusta de la música pop, de la de ahora y de la de siempre.
Una placentera travesía que va de Gainsbourg a Stereolab, de los Beatles a los Delgados, de Pink Floyd a Flaming Lips. What Crisis? This Crisis supone una evolución para el grupo en todos los aspectos. Su intensa actividad en directo les ha llevado a actuar en festivales (Contempopranea, Lemon Pop, Sonorama,.) y en multitud de ciudades, algo que ha resultado vital a la hora de configurar un sonido que definitivamente ha virado a una experiencia 100% analógica, más orgánica, en definitiva, más rock. Un rock
amasado con los mismos sintetizadores que usaban los grupos que les gustan de los 70 – ¡a la felicidad por el mellotron y el minimoog! –. Es la música la que marca la emoción en unos textos rebosantes de imágenes poderosas, de historias en las que se mezcla ficción y realidad, homenajes a viejos héroes y personajes anónimos. Grandes dosis de imaginación y humor han sido los ingredientes fundamentales para completar este puzzle fantástico de diez piezas y poco más de treinta y cinco minutos. * El disco se grabó en Madrid, después, el grupo viajó hasta Chicago y allí realizaron la mezcla con John McEntire (productor de Stereolab, Wilco o Tortoise). Jason Ward (técnico de sonido de The Shins, Pavement o Iron and Wine) hizo la masterización.

An adventurous struck of luck joined the destinies of this Madrid located band, formed by Marti Perarnau (vocals, guitars and synths), Mikel Alberdi (guitars, piano), Irene Bonilla (bass), Clara Martinez (vocals), Peter Velardo (drums) and Javi Castellano (synths). A meteoric genesis that launched them directly into the Final of 2005 Demo Project. Only one year later the songs in their first album “Suburban Metronome” lifted them from the underground.
“What Crisis? This Crisis”, the second album from UNDERWATER TEA PARTY, is one of the most heartbreaking collection of songs you can find in Spains independent scene. A collection of singles with an outstanding technical polish and a touch from almost every branch of the pop music tree, from Gainsbourg to Stereolab, from Beatles to Delgados, from Pink Floyd to Flaming Lips.
“What Crisis? This Crisis” has implied an evolution to the band in yet so many ways. Their intense live activity has took them to several national and international festivals (Contempopránea, Lemon Pop, Sonorama.) and in concert halls inside and outside their home country, resulting in a more mature, organic, 100% analogic and less pop and more rock sound. A rock sound elaborated with the aid of the same synthesisers their beloved seventies bands used to play – following their own personal moto “get to happiness through the mellotron and the minimoog!”-. In this album its the music that points out the emotion but the lyrics include powerful symbols, fiction vs. reality stories, tributes to old heroes and to unknown anonymous characters.
Huge doses of imagination and sense of humour have been the main ingredients employed to complete this great puzzle of 10 pieces and not more than 35 minutes.

*The album was recorded in Madrid but the band flied to Chicago where local legend John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea and the Cake, Stereolab) mixed it, and Jason Ward (sound engineer for The Shins, Stephen Malkmus or Iron and Wine) took care of the mastering.
