UDI (Under Da Influence) is a duo composed of Dig (Derrick Reed) and Quint (Quintin Morris) two natives of San Francisco, California, whose reserve demeanor belie the raw game found in the content of their music. This duo incorporates their love of music and their love of the game to create a sound guaranteed to have you high odd the vibe. Molded by their constant exposure to music over the years, and its ability to provide a positive release, and its tendency to soothe the savage beast, UDI exemplifies the family vibe that is so prevalent in the family of artists at Big Nest Recordings/Laidblack Productions. Motivated by the realization of running their own company and inspired by the combination of overcoming personal tragedy and having others recognize their capabilities, UDI focuses on keeping their camp together and running smoothly, while letting the world know that they're coming to party and make sure they enjoy the show. Together in the music business and as a group for 10 years, UDI demonstrates what an effect support system, genuine interest, and exposure can create in the way of dedication and longevity. Not to mention the intoxicating affects of their mesmerizing grooves, which will have you body entranced into some rump-shaking moves. Influenced by both R&B and Rap, UDI hales the likes of Marvin Gaye and the Isley Brothers, as well as rappers Run DMC, NWA, 8 Ball, MJG, and Totally Insane as artists who have inspired and encouraged their continued interest in music. More like brothers, Dig (whose name is derived from the slang term meaning understand) and Quint rely on each other for guidance and support. Though focused on ensuring that the music has exposure once it is completed, UDI's major goal is to ensure that the audience has a good time. Making certain they've got you intoxicated from a sound they'd like to call musicolism (musical alcoholism), there's no doubt that by the time you finish listening to the first track you too will be Under Da Influence.
