The trio Tværg consists of Mattias Helje, Per Johan Moslet and Anders Ådin, who play mostly folk music from Selbu, Västerdalarna and Finnskogen.

MATTIAS HELJE is a fiddler from Lima in Dalarna, Sweden. He has had the honour of being appointed “National Fiddler”. Among his recordings is “Smedjelåter” from 2002, which features folk music mainly from Västerdalarna.

He has also performed and taught folk music from Västerdalarna in France, Denmark and the USA.

PER JOHAN MOSLET plays the two-row accordion. He is originally from Selbu in Sør-Trøndelag, but currently lives in Stange in Hedemark. In the summer of 2006 he released the record “Frå Tusenølløv te Olav Haugan: Folkemusikk fra Selbu”, on which Mattias also makes a contribution. This is the first recording made of folk music from Selbu.

Per Johan has been involved with a number of “gammeldans” fiddle groups, and has appeared with them at several folk music festivals.

Anders Ådin plays guitar and Hurdy Gurdy, originally from Sweden but currently lives in Oslo, Norway. He is a musician and a teacher with a passion for Nordic folk music and drone music.

Mattias and Per Johan began collaborating in 2002, mostly for fun, but in the spring 2006 they decided to make a greater effort to promote music from their district. Anders started in Tværg early spring 2007.

During the spring 2007 Tværg is going to make a new demo, with a new sound.

Their repertoire ranges from lively “pols” dances from Selbu through dynamic “springleiker” from Lima to mysterious “pols” dances from Finnskogen. They also play other types of old and new dance music from the same districts. This type of folk music is not especially well known among the general audience, particularly the music from Selbu, which Mattias and Per Johan introduced in the recording “Frå Tusenølløv te Olav Haugen”. Music from Finnskogen and Västerdalarna is popular in Sweden, but almost unknown in Norway.

Tværg aims at making the music of Selbu, Västerdalarna and Finnskogen available to a wider audience, both in Norway and abroad.
