JODDSKI FIRST SOLO VIDEO

Tungtvann burst on the Norwegian music scene as 1999 turned into 2000 as one of the first rap groups to make rap in the Norwegian language sound good. Their debut EP, originally recorded as a (unmixed, unmastered) demo sold out it's original 100 12"-s fast, and soon the entire Norwegian music industry was buzzing about this duo from the northern part of Norway, who was rapping about sex, drugs and moonshine over classic New York-sounding beats. The result: a deal with EMI, and a re-release of "Reinspikka Hiphop EP" on CD, which quickly went gold. From there on it was full speed ahead: Tungtvann was heralded as the saviours of Norwegian Hiphop, and their debut album "Nord Og Ned" recieved rave reviews throughout, even securing a nice one in british Hip Hop Connection Magazine (whom, of course, didn't understand a word). A tour followed, which culiminated in a legendary show at Roskilde Festival in Denmark, and Tungtvann recieved a lot of different prizes, both for their album, but also for their lyrics, and their ressurection of the Norwegain language (and the North-Norwegian dialect in particular) in music.

Second album "Mørketid" was also recieved very well by critics and the public alike, and featured near-gold single "Pøbla" as well as "Bransjehora", which also became the theme music for extremely popular TV Comedy Show "Åpen Post", where Tungtvann also worked as an in-house band for the season. Massive touring followed, and then the "Påfyll EP" rounded out 2002. Album nr 3, "Folket Bak Nordavind" (2004) was another winner with the critics, and spawned the hit single "Slæpp Dæ Laus" and featured colloborations with Scandinavian heavyweigths like LOC (DK), AFC and Jogi (S). This time around their fondness for reggae and dancehall music was more obvious, as well as forays into more bounce-oriented material. The album was accompanied my the mix-cd "Velkommen Til Tungtland", as well as more excessive touring, and before you know it, Tungtvann realized they'd been in the business for 5 years. This was celebrated with a big show at Oslo club Blå, and a DVD which contained music videos, live performances as well as interviews and backstage footage. "5 År Og Like Langt" was the name, and was one of the better-selling Norwegian music DVD's at the time.

2005 saw Tungtvann teaming up with new Norwegian rap sensations Jaa9 & Onkl P, and releasing an EP under the name "Skills Misse Baren", which also featured production from Tommy Tee and Breakmechanix a.o. This meant a great deal of touring again, before settling in the studio to record 4th album "Siste Skanse" and the "Velkommen Til Tungtland 2" mixtape.

The making of these were the most intense in Tungtvann history, since they now had their own studio the whole album was recorded in a brief and hectic period of a month and a half. "Velkommen Til Tungtland 2" was distributed for free to around 300 fans, to build up expectations for the album. "Siste Skanse" featured Oslo-rappers Herreløse, Swedish Timbuktu, Danish LOC and Germaica artist Ill Inspecta (from Stuttgart). In addition northerners Magnus Eliassen and Stein Olsen (Karlsøy Prestegaard) and Terje Nilsen sang on a song each while musicians like Frode Da Costa Lia, Petter Pogo (Jokke & Valentinerne), Frode & Atle Nymo (Urban Connection, Motif etc), and Sprocket (Burning Rubber) added flavour to the tracks.

Around fall 2001 MC Jørg-1 and sidekick Jan Steigen founded one of Norway's very few dancehall soundsystems, Raggabalder Riddim Rebels, and started playing out in Oslo. This was following Jørg-1 dabbling in reggae on wax, and a pilgrimage to Summerjam in Cologne. For their 2-year long residency at Oslo club Living Room they recieved "Oslo Club Of The Year" trophy, where they also had a lot of guests from around Scandinavia (such as Jogi, Mr Chin & Topaz), as well as Jamaicans Alozade & Zumjay. At the same time they opened for big names like Beenie Man, Capleton and Michael Rose. They have since had another residency at Norway's premier club Blå, and played around the whole of Norway, as well as Sweden and Amsterdam. Jørg-1 was selected to represent Norway on Germany's Germaica Records "Rodeo Europe"-LP, after they heard the Tungtvann single "Sinnsyk". The album featured artists from 20 European countries, and marked the start of an ongoing relationship with Germaica, which a.o. is evidenced in Germaican Scout Ill Inspecta's pairing up for "Siste Skanse"'s 2nd single "Mor Du E Hot".

Tungtvann consists of MC/writer Jørg-1 from Ørnes, Dj/Producer Poppa Lars from Harstad and sidekick Jan Steigen (from Steigen, of course).

They've released 4 albums, several Ep's, mixtapes and 7"/12" singels as well as a DVD. They've played severeal hundred shows all over Norway, as well as visiting Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
