This Norwegian doom cult was formed in 1991/92. At the time, Paradigma’s multivoiced doom/death blend proved a fresh breath of putrefaction. Albeit emotional and melodic, Paradigma still avoids the sickening over-sweet romantic aura which some doom bands reek of. Rather the opposite, Paradigma has an expression channelling anger and hatred just as well as sorrow or passion.

The demo tape ‘As Autumn Dies’ was recorded in 1993, followed by the CD Mare Veris in 1995 and the MCD Skadi in 1996. The band never went on tour, but still managed to play more than 50 gigs in total.

Einar Fredriksen (Funeral) joined Paradigma in 1997 and was a valuable part of the band until he tragically committed suicide 10th January 2003. This turn of events caused the band to cease activity for some time. Karl Jonny Lervåg (drums), one of the band's original founding members, decided to end his participation some time before this turn of events.

The album “The Beckoning of Lost Light” was postponed indefinitely, the remaining members focusing on other bands. However, one cannot escape one’s destiny. In between other band activities, Tom continued to develop new material. Even after so many years of absence, Paradigma stands out as too miserable to succumb to oblivion.

Inevitably, the looming shadow of Paradigma was resurrected in June 2006. Original members Zilla (female voice and keys), Chris Eidskrem (bass) and Tom Kvålsvoll (voice and guitar) joined forces again with two new members to complete this dirge: Mikael Sykelig on guitar (ex Naer Mataron) and Kjetil Hektoen on drums (Enthral, Crest of Darkness, Sjodogg).

These creatures played for the first time i front of people at the inferno festival (John Dee, 5apr07).

Mike was relieved of his duties after two gigs. Further amendments to the line-up have also been necessary and will eventually be revealed when new material is recorded
