Hi. I'm 28 year old North Londoner TRIP, also known as Alex Child, and in 2009 I finally released my indie-grime-electro-pop-punk album SHORTCUTS. I wrote some songs with James Rushent (DIOYY/The Prodigy) and some songs with Lance Thomas (LadyTron). The lead single RIVER PHOENIX, was playlisted on XFM, (single of the week for three consecutive weeks) Kerrang FM, NME TV and Absolute Radio, and was summed up by Dave Berry as, ''A typical love story. Boy meets girl. They go out to restaurant. Boy walks girl home. Girl finds out American actor has died and is too upset to kiss boy. Boy has tantrum. Boy's friend hears about it and writes a song. Song gets played on XFM. Classic.'' Well put Dave.

The second single, WHO'S THAT was playlisted by XFM and NME TV, and was rotated heavily on Nick Grimshaw and Hugh Stephens Radio 1 shows. Steve Lamacq said it was ''the most played song in my house right now.'' I've always liked Steve Lamacq.

I thought I'd make eleven music videos so I could have one for each song. So we did that, and called it DayTrip. To up the stakes a bit, we shot them all back-to-back in 24 hours, in the album running order. We then gave each director 24 hours to edit their song and we showed them all 24 hours later in a small SoHo cinema. It was a tiring shoot and by the end of it I looked like I was in Robinson Crusoe, but it was a very funny few hours, and certainly took the term 'guerilla-film making' to dizzying new heights.

I toured with Goldie Looking Chain in March and supported The Noisettes in April. In July I went on Big Brother's Big Mouth and sang Who's That. My guitarist Henry mimed his bit though. Over the summer I played at Get Loaded, Beach Break, Great Escape and Secret Garden Festivals, and then went on tour with Does It Offend You Yeah in October, rounding the year off with playing the Big Reunion, and finally supporting The Audio Bullys at Koko for Club NME night in December. It was a crazy year.

This year, I'm writing my new album and i’m currently working with Martin Rushent (Human League, Buzzcocks). You’ll also hear me featuring with some other acts. I mostly write songs about; money, love, heroes and villians, though I got one about breakfast too. Oh, and I’ve also written a couple of TV and Film scripts.
