Triple J, born Johnathan Jerel
Johnson, gained public notoriety as a Hip Hop artist in the year 2000. He is the
self proclaimed "Best Kept Secret in Florida". Raised in the crime ravaged streets
of Riviera Beach, FL, (Palm Beach County) Triple J has managed to take the
grittiness of the Hood and cleverly wrap it into a lyrical package that has
connected with fans regardless of their background or gender. The content of his
material is very graphic, due to the fact that so many of his own personal
experiences are conveyed through his songs. He is not a made up record label
gimmick. He is the truth. His versatility ranges from humorous story telling (such
as the radio hits "Stay Out My Phone" & "16 Years Old") to dramatic underground
classics (like "Will to Live" & "My Addictions"). His prison anthem, "Jump",
(which means to get out of jail) is a true dedication to his incarcerated peers
and has made him an icon to inmates all throughout the Florida prison system. He
caters to the women in his smash hit "Boy Shorts" and he gets the crowd rowdy with
his club banger "Point'em Out". His resume consists of countless performances,
videos, and mix tapes. Triple J signed his first major record deal with Def Jam
Recordings in 2002 (as Bumpy Johnson) by way of the legendary rapper Scarface, who
was president of Def Jam South at the time. Triple J has had the pleasure of
recording songs with some of Hip Hop's greatest artists, such as Bun B of UGK, Lil
Boosie, Scarface and super producer Jim Jonsin. His stay at Def Jam was short
lived due to Scarface's contractual release from the Hip Hop conglomerate. The set
back with Def Jam did not deter Triple from pursuing his goals as a recording
artist and fulfilling his destiny. Triple J is most known for his witty word play,
super tight delivery, and the use of various flows that keep his fans following
from one song to the next. Songs like "What the Lick Read" (which reached 3 on
Billboard) proves his ability to deliver hits!! Triple J has restructured his team
and is now being backed by the strong, up and coming independent label, Xklucive
Entertainment in addition to being managed by Enoch Entertainment & Management
Group. Now that he has the right team in place, Triple J is confident that with
his talent he will soon make his mark in Hip Hop history.
