Thaísa, Thainá and Thayana, were each born on November 10th,1984 in Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
Ever since they were young, their father would play guitar around the house while their mother sang.
They also grew up listening to famous Brazilian singers like Sergio Mendes, Joao Gilberto and his daughter Bebel Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Ivete Sangalo, Djavan and American singers like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Madonna.
Thainá, Thayana and Thaísa started off studying classical ballet at the tender young age of three, adding jazz and contemporary dance to their repertoire a few years later.
Simultaneous to their dance training, they were also taking various theater and acting classes.
Ever since they started on stage, the public has always showed an immediate response to their performances as the critics praised them for their overflowing creative energy. This became the key to their success. That was the day the group "T-Rio" was officially born and when their dancing took a back seat to their singing.
In 2002, they joined the traveling theater group Farsacena Cia Teatral for nearly a year, until 2003, when a new turn of events took place. Thayana, Thaísa and Thainá were hand selected to be part of a new musical in Paris, France. Falling in love with Paris and its incredible mix of cultures and music, they set a new goal for themselves: To share and spread Brazilian culture and music to as many people as they can.
Their first single, "Choopeta" is a classic example of this. Originally a folk song from Brazil and immortalized by legendary performer Carmem Miranda in 1939, "Choopeta" (Mamãe eu quero), was remade with a brand new interpretation and production.
Their album, also named "Choopeta", is a wonderful mixture of beautiful Brazilian cover songs, and some original songs as well, which were either written or co-written by T-Rio. It is a true expression of the joy of life!
T-Rio’s first album was mainly a dedication to their native country Brazil and their timing couldn't have been better. It was released in 2005, the same year France was participating in a special yearly tribute to Brazil. The "Choopeta" album stayed at number one in France for months.
However T-Rio didn't want to be only limited to France and they weren't. They were fortunate enough to find worldwide success by releasing their album to over 25 countries, topping the charts in many of those countries, and selling close to two millions albums. This alone was an amazing feat considering the state of the record industry at that time.
At the end of 2005, T-Rio launched their second single "If You Leave Me Now", as a duet with the Jackson brothers, Taj, Tj and Taryll Jackson, who form the international pop group 3T.
T-Rio now are currently in the studio preparing for a follow up album and have their new sights set on America. Besides being Brazilian triplets that can speak in several different languages, they can also sing in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish.
Whether it's singing, dancing or acting, entertaining people is what T-rio feel like they were each born to do.
