Trina Mashell is a modern day soul singer and song writer drawing heavily from the influence of hip-hop, r&b, blues, and gospel. She describes her sound as the "URBAN FOLK". Her music is music by and of the common people. She crafts her songs about the Joys and hardships faced by Urban Black America. It is hip-hop soul with depth. Growing up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi she honed her singing skills by directing the youth choir, winning local beauty pageants and performing with a blues band. Band leader Gene Hicks couldn't believe how such a young person with no real exposure to the blues innately captured its spirit with blues runs reminiscent of his favorite artist. She gained local notoriety when she performed before the mayor. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2002 in pursuit of a singing career. Trina Mashell is currently performing music from her new album "Rainy Days", in many Atlanta area night clubs. She is in pursuit of an artist or production deal from a label with national distribution, in order to gain national sales and exposure from her album. She has plans of writing songs and producing up and coming talent once her career is established.
