ABOUT
Trent Gentry is an Austin singer, songwriter and performer born in Fort Worth, Texas. Gentry has has recieved critical acclaim and recongnition for his most recent compilation of original music on his self titled album Trent Gentry released in March of 2011.
Trent Gentry began singing and playing piano as soon as he could crawl onto the piano bench at a very young age. Self taught piano and guitar, Gentry has been writing songs for as long as he can remember.
Gentry moved to Austin in 2005 to stretch his musical muscles after playing acoustic shows in Dallas. In 2008, Gentry recorded his debut album Stars at Aerie Studios (Austin) with Mark Addison and quietly released it. His debut album was a very down tempo and stripped bare production sound.
Trent Gentry connected with Mark Hallman of Congress House Studio in Spring of 2010 in search of studio time for a possible new album project. Instantly Gentry felt they were a perfect match and slated the summer to record Gentry's next project. Jane Schweppe worked closely along side Gentry as co-executive producer on the self titled Trent Gentry project. Gentry wrote 11 songs going into the Spring 2010 production.
Trent Gentry delivers yearning choruses, well rounded lyrics that are emotional, memorable melodies, and clever surprises within tempo that all converge on Gentry's music in an ear-friendly fashion that promises heavy rotation for devout fans. Gentry draws from the Beatles influence quite a bit, as well as Motown artists.
Trent Gentry had a phenomenal experience at Congress House Studio. Mark Hallman's production was a perfect blend for Gentry's songwriting. Gentry found his voice and stylistically (vocally) found his confidence in his vocals. Hallman of Congress House Studio says, "One of the best things he's ever heard from someone thats been working with so many talented people for so many years. He's one of the best vocalists I've ever had in this studio."
"My DOG, WATER (swimming), and MUSIC are what keep me going. The album is all warm strings and keyboards, Hammond organ, lyrics of truth and honesty. This batch of songs is certainly my best and I' ve never been able to compliment my own work until now." says Trent Gentry.
