Trees Of Mint è un progetto musicale ideato da Francesco Serra (Cagliari, 1980), chitarrista e compositore autodidatta.
Serra inizia la sua esperienza musicale come chitarrista e cantante in una band che spazia dal noise rock alla prischedelia. Nel 2000 si trasferisce a Bologna per studiare cinema. Qui continua a portare avanti una sperimentazione sonora incentrata sulla chitarra e comincia a registrare nuovo materiale usando vecchi registratori a cassette e altri dispositivi sub-standard.
I primi lavori incisi su cassetta (2000-03), si basano principalmente su chitarra e voce e sono fortemente legati alla forma canzone. I pezzi sono caratterizzati da uno stile cantautorale scarno ed introverso, accompagnato da lente progressioni di accordi e arpeggi di chitarra che spesso sfociano in code strumentali altamente evocative.
Nel 2007 registra il suo primo album in studio, intitolato Micro Meadow., che contiene dieci pezzi per chitarra elettrica, loop-machine, voce e batteria. L'album d'esordio, combina lo stile chitarristico lirico ed evocativo maturato nel corso degli anni, con classiche strutture folk/pop e con una sezione ritmica più incisiva.
Il disco è uscito nel Gennaio 2008 per Here I Stay Records ottenendo ottime recensioni dalla critica specializzata nazionale. Serra comincia ad esibirsi in molti club e festival Italiani, spesso accompagnato da un batterista. Successivamente ritorna ad esibirsi come solista, con un live set basato su chitarra elettrica, loops, voce e visuals.
Nel corso degli anni abbandona gradualmente l'uso della voce e di ogni altro strumento per concentrarsi maggiormente sulle potenzialità sonore ed espressive della chitarra elettrica. Dal 2010 collabora con Home Movies, l'Archivio Nazionale del Film di Famiglia, dove si occupa prevalentemente di sonorizzazioni live e colonne sonore per film amatoriali in formati sub-standard. La sua ricerca comincia a focalizzarsi maggiormente sulle relazioni tra suono e immagine. A Giugno 2011 registra il suo nuovo album, intitolato Trees Of Mint, che contiene quattro composizioni strumentali per sola chitarra elettrica e loop-machine. Il disco è stato registrato e mixato da Mattia Coletti (Wallace/TownTone) e uscirà per Trovarobato Parade a novembre 2012.

Trees Of Mint is a musical project conceived in the late nineteens by Francesco Serra, a sardinian guitarist and composer.
Serra is completely self-taught, and started out as a guitarist/singer in a noise rock band of underground sardinian scene. In 2000, he moved to Bologna to study cinema. Here, He continued experimenting with sounds and guitar, in his own bedroom, where he began recording new songs using old tape recorders and other substandard equipment.
Trees Of Mint early home-made albums (2000-03) are mainly based on guitar and voice, featuring pieces characterized by slow developments of guitar chords and arpeggios that often ends in intensely evocative instrumental codas, and by a fragile and introverted songwriting style.
In 2007, leveraging from lo-fi experiments of preceding years, Serra recorded his first studio album titled "Micro Meadow…", that features ten pieces for electric guitar, loop-machine, voice and drums.
The debut album combines the songwriting and guitar evocative and lyrical playing style developed over the years with a more incisive rhythm section and classic folk/pop structures. The record was released in January 2008 with the sardinian independent label "Here I Stay" and well-received by italian critic.
Serra, meanwhile graduated in cinema from Bologna University, began performing in many clubs and italian festivals, often accompanied by a drummer.
Later he returned playing as a solo performer with a live set based on electric guitar, loops, voice and live visuals by Olak, a video-artist that joined the project since 2006.
In 2010 he began working on live soundtracks for amateur films in substandard formats. During this period Serra gradually eliminated voice and any other instrument to focus on the sound of his primary instrument, the electric guitar.
In june 2011 he recorded his new solo work, that features four instrumental compositions for electric guitar and loop-machine. The new album comes out on November 2012 on Trovarobato Parade.
