Jocasta - " Girls Are Evil " ( GJ's Classic Mix) Promo Copy - www.Traxsource.com - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 24, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
Jocasta is a product of the soul, reggae and drum n bass melting pot that describes the music of Bristol, UK. When you also take into account that both of her parents are professional musicians with a jazz flavour, you begin to realize where Jos earliest influences came from. She simply had no choice; there was no way she couldnt become a unique singer and songwriter. As her musical palette continued to evolve, further inspiration from icons such as Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, and even ska legends Madness all made a lasting impression on her.

Which brings us to her debut release on MoreHouse, Girls Are Evil. The title sounds a lot harsher than the tune is intended to be. Its part cheeky slapstick, and part retaliation to girls that simply love to bring you down. Jos fresh vocal and lyrical styling on Girls clearly tag her as one to watch. The package includes 5 uniquely different remixes, along with 3 instrumental versions, and the Original midtempo Ska Version ( 9 mixes in all) to satisfy a variety of musical tastes. Remixes come courtesy of MoHos own Groove Junkies, and UK stars on the rise Stuttering Munx. In her own words Jocasta says - Luckily the person I wrote this about has no idea its about them, which also makes me a little bit of a bitch and a hypocritebut arent we all! Girls truly are evil :-) Enjoy!

TRACK DESCRIPTIONS GJs Classic Vox
Evan and Parrish on the classic house tip. Tasty rhodes pads, rhythmic synths, lush strings, flute, sax, horn sections, live bass and crisp beats serve as a perfect backdrop to Jocastas quirky vocal. Strictly for the soulful heads.

GJs Dislectrotek Mix and Dub
Somethin different from the fellas. As the mix names imply, the music beds for these 2 remixes feature various elements of disco, a tinge of electro, and tech house. Quirky, funky and fresh best describes both mixes; with a more minimal vocal approach and different bass line offered on the dub.

GJs Regga House Mix
GJs pay homage to the original ska version and house things up regga style incorporating elements from the OG. Replete with horn sections, sax, flute, live bass and driving afro/soca beats. Just in time for the pool and beach parties.

Stuttering Munx Go Deep Mix
Tim and Johnny show off their versatility and take a brief departure from their signature progressive tech house production style. The guys deliver a deep house gem thats dark, brooding, and just plain nasty!

Original Version
Midtempo ska/pop at it's very best. Fans of bands like No Doubt and even Ska pioneers Madness will seek out this 'feel good' radio friendly nugget.
