In 1986, Derrick May created Transmat Records as a launch pad for a string of monumental releases. Nude Photo, The Dance and the massively influential Strings Of Life sent seismic waves through the dance community and touched off the youth culture movement known as The Summer of Love. Transmat and its offshoot Fragile went on to release records that would become reference points for nearly every electronic artist to follow.



In the nineties Transmat and its sublabel Fragile disclosed new worlds, releasing artists like Joey Beltram Stacey Pullen, Choice / Soofle (Laurent Garnier, Shazz and Ludovic Navarre), to name just a few. The beginning of the new millennium saw the label send the last of its releases, with artists like Aril Brikha, John Arnold and Lucien Nicolet, before entering a six year period of silence, but at the end of 2009 Derrick May relaunched the label with the release of Greg Gow. New releases and a Label Tour will follow soon. Transmat is back.
