It’s 1994: Dallas walks into The Trashered, a punk-rock band who wouldn’t last long. The only survivor is Brain, the drummer. The two recruit Alex (guitar and vocals) and give life to BINGO which stand out the Italian punk scene of the second half of the Nineties. By the end of 1998 BINGO split up.
After a stopover which involved Dallas in a solo project beneath another pseudonym (Noema), he decides that the time for a new SERIOUS band has come and, still in touch with Brain, proposes to him to hang together. One night in a club he sees a guy fronting a punk-cover band and thinks he’d be perfect for his project immediately recommending him to Brain. The singer is in reality an old acquaintance for both of ‘em: he was the leader of Ufo Diktators which in the Nineties along with BINGO were the top of the capitol’s punk scene. Once dragged in Ego presents the youngster guitar player named Child after his age by Dallas and, later, suggests the name for the team: TRANSEX. It’s 2000, the band is a reality.
It treats themes like the sexual aspects of a today’s vexed society and more or less up-to-date dirty politics: the first set, a little short in the beginning, doesn’t slacken the four from being catapulted on important stages. Transex now open shows for several powerbrokers (at least once…) in the punk-rock panorama: The Queers, The Kids, The Lords of the New Church, Fuzztones, Crime, other than a lots of gigs headlining. Each of their shows is pure delirium and this will characterize the mocking nature of the band. However it will be necessary 2003 to come to have all their arrogance on vinyl: they march out with Transex, published by Hangover Records from Milan: White Girls, Black Cocks suddenly focus that when the guys treat something, well, they certainly don’t handle it with kid gloves! Sold out in a short time, no offprint is available to this day on vinyl nor on cd.
In 2005 they meet the producer Dario Emari from Tre Accordi Records: before summertime the band steps in the studio for the second work which sees the light on the following winter: Domino is the title of the cd. The new production is different and it works: tracks like Suicide, Circus (Included) and the mind-blowing Electric Chair show a real growth of the band. Also episodes like the title-track Domino and the darkest Young Blood play the change up of the crew. The cd comes to a real hail by the press, radio stations and important mags interview the four.
But 2006 is surprisingly blemished by a crossroads: Brain gives up tired of living the strain and decides to turn from the band. The following inactivity extended for several months takes Dallas to a drastic decision: he publicly announces the dissolution of the band. But the label doesn’t like this reckless behaviour: soliciting a review of the whole matter will salvage The Electric Transsexuals now really a little disoriented. By the end of the year Child brings in a new drummer: Larry. From the beginning of 2007 Transex officially get back to rehearse: they will enter the recording studio for their third work by the end of May 2007. On July they perform at the Eastpack Etnika Rock Festival with, among others, OK GO.
Now, we’re all waiting for their next move…
