PURPOSE BIO
Being the youngest of 3 brothers, whom spent much of their time during his childhood in and out of Prison, Purpose aka All-Purpose is no stranger to the consequences of being lost in the streets. Raised in the well known gang territory and drug infested, "Highlands" neighborhood in Lynn, Massachusetts, he participated alongside his close friends in similar activities to those which had previously kept his older brothers behind bars. Some of them, making life altering decisions that would change his perspective on their way of life, forever.
Being introduced to hiphop at a young age through his older siblings, he would find himself bobbing his head to the beats and memorizing words from songs. For Purpose, who at the time was too young to fully grasp much of the content matter on songs he'd listen to, it was the dark, grimy sound that would make hip-hop his choice in music and lifestyle. Due to the profanity and graphic imagery associated in hiphop, it was banned by his father, from his household. This forced Purpose to hide his tapes; only listening to them away from home or when his father was not around. He would even sleep at night with headphones on, deeply analyzing styles and voices of his favorite artists, making note of the special qualities which made them different.
By junior high school, Purpose was jotting lyrics of his own which he would often share with his older brothers and their friends during freestyle ciphers. Already proficient in most aspects of rhyming and learning to produce his own beats, he would begin to take things a little more seriously during high school, forming what would become the Tragic Allies, with close friend and current ally, Fuge(Fuji). After making a novice effort to record a studio album, which was never released, the two went back to the drawing board, focusing on improving underdevelopments in their beats and rhymes.
During this reconstruction period, Purpose began doing a lot of work on his own. This is also when he had first met and began working with local MC, Estee Nack who would later become a pivotal part of the Allies movement. With the three gaining local notoriety; recording songs and performing locally as the Tragic Allies, Purpose remained focused on transitioning from beat-maker to producer, constantly seeking new techniques for creating his ideal sound.
After recording a solo project of his own which also went without release, he and Estee Nack began production on what would become the first official Tragic Allies mixtape, "The Mixtape"(2005). This project gave everyone a small taste of Purpose's talent on the beats with notable production on joints "Look at me", "Science of life", "Here we go again", "Bringin' it back" and "Rapid Fire". On second mixtape, "The Grey Skies"(2007), Purpose secured his rank as a top notch lyricist and vivid storyteller with performance on songs "Boomerang Theory", "Skleeted" and "Had Enough".
Prior to recording his solo "The Soul Purpose" mixtape in 2008 in his newly founded "Grey Skies" studios, Purpose had established Tragic Allies Productions, landing his first official production credits on Big Shug's, "The other side of the game" album, as well as producing a joint on the Wu-Affiliated hiphop collective, The Almighty's album, "Original S.I.N.". Working with Killah Priest, and the rest of the Allies on, "The Soul Purpose" mixtape, Purpose reminded us of his abilities as a storyteller with songs such as "Window of Opportunity" and "The night before last", but maintained that he can still bust hard rhymes with the best of em' on tracks like, "Strictly Boombap" and "What the Deal".
Daunting the opening of the Grey Skies studios and the release of "The Soul Purpose" mixtape, Purpose took under much of the operating responsibilities as far as the Tragic Allies are concerned, handling most of the production, networking and website administration.
In 2009, Purpose finds himself working full time in the Grey Skies, mostly preparing for the release of the Allies' first studio album, "The Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil", where he handles a large portion of the production. With the release of the album, Purpose plans to emerge not only as an elite lyricist, but as a well-respected producer. Working with several well-known groups and artists, Purpose's name should appear more frequently, not only in stores and on album production credits, but as a topic of conversation on hiphop blogs worldwide.
