**PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT REALLY USING THIS MYSPACE PAGE MUCH AT THE MOMENT BUT YOU CAN CATCH ME DAILY AT
My new solo album "Love And Its Opposite" came out on May 17, released on Ben's Strange Feeling Records, and in the US on Merge. I started recording it at the end of 2007, as you'll know if you've been reading the blogs on this page which detail its long, slow, and somewhat piecemeal gestation. Recorded in Berlin and London, it was produced by Ewan Pearson, and features vocals from Jens Lekman, vocals and drums from Cortney Tidwell, and a little combo on a few songs who are bascially the Hot Chip live band (Al Doyle on bass and guitar, Leo Taylor on drums).
It's a very direct, stark record, with lyrics that were mostly inspired by my growing belief that middle age is not so much a comfort zone, as a war zone. It's not a dancefloor record at all - for want of a better word, it's a more "acoustic" record than I've made in a long time. There's piano, and guitar and real live drums, and only little smatterings of electronica here and there. That said, there will in due course be some remixes, because, well because I LOVE remixes. And they love me.
No, once again I won't be touring. All the same reasons as before, and I apologise for those of you who would like a gig to come to. But there you go. We are working on some filmed performances of some of the songs, which will at least give a little taste of a performance. They will be viewable somewhere or other, nearer the time.
