Tobias Thomas, geboren im April 1970 in Süddeutschland, gehört seit den frühen Neunziger Jahren zum engen Kreis des Kölner Elektronik-Labels Kompakt. Als professioneller DJ arbeitet er seit 1990, als Musikproduzent war und ist er Teil von Projekten wie Thomas/Mayer und Forever Sweet und hat gemeinsam mit Dettinger, Superpitcher, Jörg Burger, Geiger, Michael Mayer, Reinhard Voigt und Ada eine Vielzahl an Remixen und eigenen Produktionen veröffentlicht.



Für das Musikmagazin SPEX hat Tobias Thomas von 2000-2007 als Redakteur gearbeitet und u.a. die monatliche elektronische Tanzmusik-Kolumne »Data Pop« betreut, 2001 entstand daraus die Compilation »Data Pop«. Gemeinsam mit der gesamten Redaktion verließ Tobias Thomas SPEX, als diese nach Berlin zog. Seit 2007 arbeitet Tobias Thomas beim Kölner Musikfestival c/o pop, seit Ende 2009 als Programmleiter.



Seit 1998 ist Thomas, gemeinsam mit Michael Mayer und Superpitcher, Gastgeber der Clubnacht »Total Confusion« in Köln. Außerdem gastiert er regelmäßig in der Panorama Bar in Berlin, dem Robert Johnson in Offenbach, dem Low Club in Madrid sowie bei den »Tanzhalle Forever«-Parties in Hamburg.



Bis Sommer 2006 fand Total Confusion jeden Freitag im Studio 672, seit Dezember 2007 nur noch jeden ersten Freitag im Monat im Bogen 2 der Kölner Hohenzollernbrücke statt. Im Juli 2010 feierte die Total Confusion-Reihe ihr 12jähriges Jubiläum.



Als DJ hat Tobias in den letzten zwanzig Jahren in dreißig Ländern und auf vier Kontinenten gespielt. Auf Kompakt erschienen sind die Mix-CDs »Für Dich« (1999), »Smallville« (2003) und »Please Please Please« (2007), von Forever Sweet gibt es das Album »Geben & Nehmen« (Ladomat, 1998).



Tobias Thomas, born April 1970 in the south of Germany, is a member of the inner circle of the Cologne based electronic label Kompakt since the early nineties. He is working as a professional DJ since 1990, was involved in many cooperations & projects like Forever Sweet, Thomas/Mayer and did a number of remixes alongside Dettinger, Superpitcher, Jörg Burger, Geiger, Michael Mayer, Ada and Reinhard Voigt.



As a former editor for the german music magazine SPEX hes done interviews with Sven Väth, the Pet Shop Boys, Westbam, Depeche Mode, Wolfgang Tillmans, Erlend Øye, Justin Timberlake and many others. He left SPEX for good in the end of 2006 when the magazine moved to Berlin. After he stopped working as a music journalist, Tobias became part of the Cologne music festival c/o pop (www.c-o-pop.de), where he works as program director.



Since 1998 hes hosting the »Total Confusion«-Clubnight in Cologne together with Michael Mayer and Superpitcher. Until 2006 »Total Confusion« took place every friday in the famous Studio 672 club, since the beginning of 2007 it found a new – now monthly - home in a place called »Bogen 2«, a venue which is part of an old bridge spanning the river Rhine. Other resident nights include the Panorambar in Berlin, the Robert Johnson in Offenbach or the Low Club in Madrid.



As a DJ Tobias played in more than 30 countries and on 4 continents. He released three Mix-CDs, »Für Dich« (1999), »Smallville« (2003) and »Please Please Please« on Kompakt and – with Forever Sweet – the album »Geben & Nehmen« on Ladomat (1998).
