At the end of 2006 Tiger Thief had a serious reorganization. Former bass player and dear friend, Roy Bourne, left the group to pursue his own music (which is incredible) and various collaborations with some of Raleigh's best musicians. Very shortly after Roy's exit, Dave Burke joined the group as a replacement. The band decided that with the old line-up no more, all of the old songs must be retired too.

.In January of 2007, we made ambitious plans to never play another live show until 15-20 new songs were written and an album was done. We thought this would only take three or four months.well it did not and we have some more work to do. The band continues to play and write almost every day of the week; the result: a transition from high-energy garage rock to a much more progressive sound. The music is still distinctly Tiger Thief with brash guitars and catchy hooks only now the music has become more layered, rhythmic, nuanced, cohesive, darker at times, quirkier and riskier.

.we played a one-off show in June when we were asked to open for The Stills from Montreal. The feedback on the new music has been tremendously encouraging, so thank you.but seriously we couldn't give two shits about anything right now, except for making the kind of music that we like to write and perform. So we are gonna try out all of our brand new stuff never played live or released on Sept. 7 at Raleigh Music Hall in an unofficial return of the band.

Thanks,

Scott, Bernard, Trent, Nick, and Dave
