View to a Kill formed in September of 2008 when Carlos (guitar), Justin (drums), and C.S. (bass) decided to leave a previous project in search of a new musical direction. Carlos, who came from some of the strongest metal bands in Chicago (Bludgeon & God Help Us), leads the assault with his own brand of guitar mayhem blended with epic melody. At the root of the rhythm section sits Justin (Death by Design, Tears of Isis, & Rise of Ruin) who creates a balance of aggression and intelligence in his drumming. Rounding out the founding three piece is C.S. (Death by Design, Bludgeon, godsize), who ties together the rhythm and the front line with his signature tone developed through years of experience in the Chicago scene. With a studio recording in the works they went on the hunt for the final two members of the band. Dave Appel (Three Faces West) brought the strength the group needed in a front man with his hardcore growls, epic clean tones, and tiring stage presence. Together with the backing vocals and billowing lows of C.S., they deliver a powerful vocal front to the diverse music behind them. After some searching for the right guitar player to play opposite Carlos, Jason Wood (The Burning Down) has stepped in to add the final layer to the group. The band has been testing the waters with live performances around the Chicagoland area, receiving a good crowd response and great reviews. The band released their first six song EP in fall 2009.
