This Is Us begins as two loyal friends. Josh St. Germain (guitar) and Justin Viveiros (bass). After receiving a guitar for his 14th birthday Josh began playing music with a local friend and drummer. They had been playing for a few months and decided that they needed someone to play bass guitar. Throughout tireless nights and hours of listening, playing, dreaming and appreciating music Josh and Justin honed their skills. Laying the foundation that would be their friendship and music.

It is at this very time that Steve Rodi (vocals) was establishing himself as a singer for a local band named Comic Book Super Heroes. As a classically trained vocalist due to his grandmothers opera background Steve was willing to take on all challenges. He has fronted a number of the Providence scene's bands, each different in their own way but never really finding what suited him

During this time Steve "Boom bots" Raposa (drums) has already made a great name for himself as a substantially tight drummer for bands such as "Hold Your Own", "Stone Leaf", and a touring drummer for "Stoic". Boom bots got his start on his fathers drum kit bunking school to play music with friend James Thompson, who now plays in local Providence act "Pistol Shot Gypsy". Now Steve still plays music and hangs out with James but shares the mutual love and respect of each other’s bands, yet still remembers where it all began.

After high school Josh and Justin took a brief respite from music together. During this time Josh begins learning more about Blues, Folk And Bluegrass furthering his knowledge of music ten fold. Justin began playing with a local act named Level. Two years later Justin departed Level and had a chance "run" in with Josh. It is at this run in that they decided that they would begin to play music together again. They began practicing in Josh's bedroom for a few months and came to the conclusion that the needed a voice that would define what it is that they wanted their music to say. A few weeks later they are introduced to Steve who began crafting a vocal dynamic that would blend Josh and Justin’s definitive melodic style. They began playing in Josh's basement (driving his parents nuts) after finding a talented drummer (Jake Mosher formerly of Times Expired) that would push them to want to create a edgier sound one that would accompany the best attributes of melody and metal. Unfortunately Jake would decide that music was no longer for him. Thus began the search for a new drummer. This Is Us found that new drummer in Geoff Ewart. While playing with Geoff at a small VFW Hall show at the Vassa Hall in Cranston together This Is Us would meet Stevie "Boom bots" for the first time and exchange their appreciation for each others music. Geoff would play drums for this is us for two years and record their first CD "We cant live forever" Shortly after This Is Us decides to find a drummer and someone that was more interested in the business aspect of music. Enter "Boom bots", an extremely talented drummer that was willing to dedicate his life to his art. Steve, Josh, Steve, and Justin furthered the friendship by playing local shows with Boom bots' band "Stone Leaf", watching and supporting each other at their live performances. Steve was asked to fill the temporary void in the loss of Geoff buy filling in until This Is Us could find a replacement, and was more than happy to help out. One week later Boom bots after playing one show, as the fill in became the permanent drummer.

This Is Us began to work with Boom bots to teach the existing set and works in progress, which was no small feat, and was done without missing a show or having a break in their ever-growing stride. Since then This Is Us has played countless shows, from Boston to Connecticut they pour every ounce of energy into every show that they have ever played, making great friends and fans. With their melodic metal sound This Is Us is captivating live audiences ensuring that they will cement themselves in the Providence and Boston scene for years to remember With friendship, love and music This Is Us
