The Wayward Boys began in the summer of 2005 with a desire to break from the constraints of the same old repetitive “punk rock”. The mission from the beginning has been to bring back the energy, intensity, and aggression into the music they love, without forcing themselves into a nice tidy punk rock package. Pulling from roots in Oi, Street punk, and Rock and Roll, The Wayward Boys were not your standard angry white boy punk rock.

From the anthemic, fist pumping, sing-along, (“Outsiders” and “Wayward Boys”) to the politically charged (“One by One” and “They Say”), The Wayward Boys show that they were not only here to have fun, they’re here to be heard. One thing is made brutally clear in the opening track (“Belongs to us”) of their first, self released album “Across the tracks”, these boys are here to play their brand of blue-collar, beer drinking, fist-pumping music… Not just what’s popular.

The Wayward Boys played in and around Texas for two years, with established punk bands such as Youth Brigade, The Queers, Hudson Falcons, and UK Subs to bands on the rise like Born to Lose, Angel City Outcasts, and Flatfoot 56. They went on two mini-tours hitting Oklahoma City, Houston, Austin, Abilene, and San Antonio.

After Three and a half years, The Wayward Boys played their last show on Nov 22nd 2008. After splitting, Derek (Singer) and Garret (Lead Guitarist) joined forces with local buddies, Dog co, and can be seen playing around town with them. Shea (Bassist) has since joined with Last of the Interceptors. Russ joined with Blarney street hooligans. Currently Dylan has not joined or formed a new band, we will update when we know more.
