FASCINATION OF A SORT

Hey- thanks for checking us out!

A little bit about us…

We started rocking a few years back as an indie-dance band of sorts to play house parties for our friends. We loved to rock- little has changed.

But then we had to part ways…

Leaving Nashville, we diverged into four separate directions to endeavor in our scholarly pursuits. Whilst away, we made sure not to depart the realm of the musical spirits.

We returned home last summer to write and record new songs you will be hearing soon. Unfortunately, however, we once again had to part ways.

Yet another year has passed and we are proud to say that on WEDNESDAY JUNE 10th we will be releasing our debut full-length album, "Fascination of a Sort", here on our myspace for free streaming! Check it out.

Thanks for listening to us, hope you enjoy the stuff

Much love,

The Turf

PRESS

"THE TURF-- In today’s hectic blogosphere, promising young bands are often tagged the next big thing while still sweating in their parents’ stuffy garages, overhyped until their heads explode and then never heard from again. After some modest local buzz last year, Nashville dance-rockers The Turf pulled a disappearing act to pursue higher learning, but thankfully they’re back in town for the summer, looking to prove that they can use their ferocious breed of mean guitars and driving beats to make even the most fickle Nashville crowd cut loose. They’ll succeed because they’re too good and too young to feel the weight of expectations—they’re just a bunch of goofy underage kids with decent record collections pulling off quirky indie rock with a dance feel." —Nashville Scene

“…extremely promising… theirs is a very likable take on that chugging guitar and driving beat formula, and fortunately you don’t have to be underage to dance along” –Nashville Scene

“Verdict: totally danceable.” –Nashville Cream

"Last summer, the guys in dance-rock outfit The Turf received their high school diplomas and graduated to local clubs, where their band quickly became one of the Nashville rock scene's most promising and talked about new acts.

Mere months later, they vanished. Three of the four members took off for separate colleges, scattered around the globe.

They've managed to stick together through the semesters, however, and this week marks The Turf's big return to town for the summer.

We caught up with drummer Nick Carter and bassist Nigel Hood to discuss the band's origins, long-distance songwriting methods and how it plans to survive the members' collegiate careers." –The Tennessean (to read the interview: http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008806070301)
