San Diego's The Stereotypes, formed in 2001 by John Finkbiner(vocals) and Mike Kamoo(guitar), have a classic sound that mines late-60's jangly psych-pop, indie-garage-rock, and 80's alternative with a post-punk D.I.Y. aesthetic. The band has had a varied lineup throughout the years including musicians Dante Conti(guitar), Tim Hines(bass), Steve Blake(keyboards), Charlie Mcree(drums), Matt Pawluk(drums), Bobby Shaddox(drums), Keizo Amakawa(guitar), and Chris Marstellar(guitar).

The band released it's first EP(1-red) to much critical acclaim. The Stereotypes, with their infectious guitar pop melodies, soon found themselves opening shows for the legendary Buzzcocks, Spoon, Supergrass, among others.

The Stereotypes second release(2-brown) ended up on John D. Luerssen's Billboard/ Rolling Stone Top 10 2004: "Garage-punk fireworks and Aussie-like Rickenbacker pop collide with exhilarating results."

On the bands 3rd effort (3-yellow) The Stereotypes expanded their sound and created a more diversified collection of songs. With classics like “Emily and “Til We Meet Again", critics offered the band it's most favorable reviews to date.

The Stereotypes released their fourth album(4-green) in the spring of 2007 and 5 (black and white) in Jan. 2008. Both to much critical praise and attention in Europe.

The band released the Orange EP, and the Grey EP, in Fall 2008. In March/April 2009 The Stereotypes will release 6-Blue and 8-Black.

The Stereotypes song 'Outside' is currently being featured in Coleman(camping) TV commercials. 'Outside' has been one of the main driving forces behind Coleman's 'Let's Go Outside' Marketing Campaign. Television credits also include ABC's 'Kyle XY(All My Life, The Lines, Came To Say Hello, Did You Know, Our Time), 'Big Shot's'(My New Friend), 'Greek'(The Night Before, My New Friend), etc. The Stereotypes have appeared on Fox TV's 'Bones'(Skinny Penny), NBC's 'Knight Rider'(Need Some Action), and on Showtime's 'Californication'(New Situation). Be sure to check out Californication's 2nd Season Soundtrack, on itunes, featuring the Stereotypes!
