Sons of Cyrus history:

Loverboy and some happy Italians @ the Bam Magazine Party, Italy 2006

The Orphans (1996)

Sons of Cyrus was formed by some stockholm high school teenagers in 1996 under the name The Orphans. The singer Loverboy (Love Jonasson) was the youngest, only 13 years old and still going to junior high school. The guitarist Loco Lopez (Erik Jonasson), the brother of Loverboy made most of the songs for the band.

Sons of Cyrus early years (1997-2001)

After some line-up changes in 1997 the band changed name to Sons of Cyrus.

For some years SoC mostly played live in Sweden but in 2001 things started to happen.

Albums and tours (2001-2004)

The stockholm label Big Brothel Records, run by Staffan Fagerberg, released a 7" single with SoC and in 2002 a rerelease of the SoC debut 7" The Warriors.

In cooperation with recordshop owner Janne Littorin, Big Brothel released in 2004 the debut album of SoC.

Sons of Cyrus started to tour Europe and became after some years more popular in Germany than in Sweden. German and american labels showed now interest in the band and the BBC legend John Peel played the SoC song What to Do in his radio show. The music video for the song What to Do were also shown on the swedish TV channel Z-TV.

The second SoC album Rock & Rollercoaster came out in 2004, produced by Chips Kiesby, the producer of many Hellacopters albums. After Loco Lopez (Erik Jonasson) withdrawal, the band continued without it's creative founder.

New members and the beginning of the end (2004-2007)

Max Volume (Max Groundstroem) joined the band as the new guitarist and SoC went on playing shows especially in Germany. Also Torgny (Tobias Rylander) joined on harmonica. New records were released on german and american labels but not many new songs were made.

In the summer of 2006 the singer Loverboy (Love Jonasson) moved to Berlin.

In November 2006 Sons of Cyrus went on a last tour to Germany together with the Stockholm band Meine Kleine Deutsche.

The last performance was at Debaser in Stockholm on the 13th of December, 2006. The club was packed, as many friends and fans came to see the band one last time. On Sunday, the 25th of March, 2007, Sons of Cyrus were officially disbanded.
