The Soldier Thread is an indie-pop quartet hailing from Austin, Texas. Patched together in late 2007, the ensemble has already undergone sweeping adjustments in style. Todd Abels (guitar, keyboard, backup vocals) and Justin McHugh (keyboard, bass) set out from ambient origins to weave in the missing pieces. Close ties to Patricia Lynn (lead vocals, keyboard, guitar) and Drew Vandiver (drums) allowed for an easy joining of loose ends. The integration of producer Dwight Baker served as the anchor stitch to complete the composite the group currently finds themselves in.

Summer of 2011 gave TST their first taste of life on the road. Blue October requested TST to tag along on their 'Any Man in America' tour. Patricia, Justin, and Todd were privileged enough to play packed houses in venues such as the renowned Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, Orpheum in Omaha, and Irving Plaza in New York. Playing as an acoustic ensemble to such sizeable audiences was in sharp contrast to the small coffee shop locales the group had once found acoustically customary; yet the group felt more at home on stage than ever before. Although their music is being streamed as far away as Russia, this was the first physical venture beyond Texas for TST.

Upon their return, TST were delighted to find themselves featured as 101x's staff pick with their song "Anybody." This doubled their pleasure, since comrade and co-collaborator Zeale, fellow Austin artist, was featured on the track, brining yet another dimension to the Thread's sound. After playing a handful of shows in Houston, 93.3 the Buzz also began spinning the track, and TST had finally breached their way into radio.

In late winter, the quintet found themselves in the studio once again, banging out a new EP. Although untitled, the five-song album has been deemed 'The Bull EP;' which, along with the 'Matador' single released some months earlier, hint at the reinvigorated aggressiveness of singer/songwriter/lyricist Patricia Lynn. Expectations were exceeded for the release show when tickets sold out in just a few days. Those who managed to find tickets on Craigslist paid a hefty price, but were happy to cram themselves into Stubb's for a glimpse at the new sound. The EP continued to gain momentum online, when iTunes highlighted the release under their "New and Noteworthy" segment.
