The Sanz, how did this band come to be? It all started back in 2001. Oscar Tony and some other guy, they had a band. They practice here and there, once in a while. They only had it like a pass time. In the other side of the band, Chris, Alfonso and Jesus, (the former drummer of Run Rabbit Run) dreamed and thought about it many times to create a band. This went on for about 2 years, not really doing anything but riding and doing BMX tricks. By the summer of 2003 Alfonso left to Los Angeles where he got the chance to talk to Oscar about combining the bands and creating one. So we did, the band containing Oscar, Alfonso, and ChrisOscar, Mario and Tony.and Alfonso, Chris, Jesus, and Ana. It was fucking weird, we were 1 band but we were in different groups. We started getting organized with Alfonso been the vocals and guitarist, Chris on guitar, Oscar on bass, Tony on Drums, and Ana on guitar. The band was not working so well, and Oscar and Ana change from bass to guitar and guitar to bass. Mario was the backup drummer. Ana fell into some problems and she left to live with her aunt's house and we had no communication with her. The band turned up to be; Oscar on guitar, Tony on drums, Alfonso on vocals/guitar, Chris on guitar and Mario on bass. We continued like that for around 1 year we practice. We did progress by creating 5 songs; Untitled 1, 2, 3, A Simple Mistake and I Lost. We played our first gig in our cousin's Quinceñera, which went really well. 2 months later Oscar and Alfonso decided to change places, Oscar would be on vocals and Alfonso would simple play guitar. It went on without knowing the change. We followed up with a gig on Rods and Wheels on July 29, 2004, and that’s how the band continued, Oscar on vocals, Alfonso on guitar, Chris on guitar, Tony on drums, and Mario on bass. Recently we were removed from our practice room Due to that we had a party without permit from the owner. We removed all of our equipment from the room and left. The kick out was a downfall but we kept our heads up. Now if we want to perform we have to find a gig. This encouraged us to perform more often and try to get a record deal. So far The Sanz created 13 songs for people to enjoy, played in many gigs since 2004 and hoping to continue performing. They have created their own home made music video and have a web page (www.freewebs.com/thesanz). We hope getting sign by a major record company as well as any other unsigned band. Recently our singer Oscar Martinez, was removed from The Sanz due to creative differences. We wish him the best as he does for us too.
