Rev. Eddy Lepp is a 53 year old disabled Vietnam Vet. He lives with his family at Eddys Medicinal Gardens and Multi-Denominational Ministry of Cannabis and Rastafari in Northern California. He was the first person arrested, tried, and acquitted under Californias medical marijuana law Proposition 215. This was a process that took from 1996 when the law was passed and Eddy was arrested all the way until 1998 when Eddy finally went to trial and won. He has been recognized internationally many times for his activist work to legalize medical and spiritual use of marijuana as well as hemp for its many industrial and environmentally conserving uses. He has received awards from The IC Cup in Amsterdam, The Green Cup in Seattle, The L.A. Cup, the Jack Herer Lifetime Achievement Award, and most recently he was honored at the 2004 High Times Cannabis Cup as Freedom Fighter of the Year, joining the ranks of Willie Nelson and Jack The Emperor Herer. He is also active in womens rights, human rights, cancer causes, and the state of our prisons. Having made a promise to the most high to help those in need, he lives each day of his life doing just that.

In 2000 he became an ordained minister at the Universal life Church and got his Doctorate in Theology and opened his ministry. In 2002 his ministry was raided by the DEA and members of the local law enforcement. Everything was seized but no one was arrested and no charges were pressed. In 2004 he was arrested during a raid by the DEA, members of the Lake County National Guard and local law enforcement. They seized an estimated 130 million dollars of medicinal and spiritual marijuana when they cut down the 32,524 plants that the ministry was growing right along side Hwy 20 in Upper Lake California. Eddy was the only one arrested and charged during this raid and was released on bail the next day. In 2005, after Eddy had step down as head minister of the gardens being replaced by his wife Linda, the garden was raided again. Once again the raid was conducted by the DEA who were assisted by members of local law enforcement. They seized over 6,000 plants and arrested Eddy again this time keeping him in jail for over two months.

Eddy is currently facing four life sentences, 17 million dollars in fines, and an addition 40 more years just in case, for the 2004 and 2005 raids. His trial has been put on hold for a year due to his attorney Tony Serra having to serve ten months for willfully refusing to pay taxes and to give Eddy time to deal with the recent news of his wife Linda having stage four cancer of the lungs. His next court date is on July 31 2006 to find out the status of his attorneys pending jail time and to decide when they will be able to go ahead with his trial.
