The Redondos

Under a street light on a hot summer night the sounds of vocal harmony can be heard stretching through the alley ways of the city.

These are the sounds of 1950's Brooklyn, Philly, and Chicago, but the students of these sounds can be found everywhere, even Sunny California circa 2010. The "lang lang's," "oop-shoops," and Doo Wop's of the most beautiful and challenging era of Rock & Roll are elusive and mysterious. They are also alive and well in The Redondos.

Formed in 2002 by Vicky Tafoya (The Big Beat, and countless Doo Wop Society Shows 1991-Present) and Eddie Nichols (Royal Crown Review) The Redondos quickly sprang to life with the enlisting of their two greatly talented friends Jimmy Gimelli ( Subway to Venus) and Matt Mazzola to round out the line-up. From the first notes emmitted in public there has been a wave of interest, love and joy shown toward this band. It has taken them on a truly original ride to places like: Viva Las Vegas, The Rockin' 50's Fest in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Ink-N-Iron in Long Beach, CA, Cool Bobby B's Doo Wop Convention as well as several shows at House of Blues and a ton of local Doo Wop Shops.

2006 saw the release or the groups self-titled cd. Unlike most acts that persue and older genre of music, The Redondos truly set themselves apart here by doing original compositions as well as paying homage to their heroes with some beautifully arranged cover tunes. Not since it's originators has the complexity and simplicity of this music been demonstrated with more love, respect and talent than on The Redondos.

"One Summer Night", under a moon, The Redondos were born. They truly are the original sound of love, life and harmony. Something we can all use a little more of, and that's all. Goodnight Sweethearts, Goodnight.
