Red Diamond, born Luis Arroyo, was born in Chicago, IL and raised in a small town called “Lakewood” which is located in central south NJ. Since the age of 6, Luis was gearing the rest of his life toward the world of music. He would listen to all genres of music which was a habit handed down to him from his wonderful parents. These multiple music genres included salsa, merengue, gilnaldo (grassroots music of Puerto Rico), jazz, soft rock and more. He enjoyed the fact that not all music sounded alike and actually brought out different feelings from within.

He began to take notice that music had a positive effect on him. When listening to different songs, he would either find himself very motivated or relaxed and at peace. As his desire for music grew, so did his curiosity of its origins and how they were created. Luis always had an ear for good music and felt that it was his mission to seek out that special vibe that was drawing him more and more close to some sort of a shining light. This was all due to watching the infamous T.V. show Radio Music Box with DJ Ralph Mc. Daniels. With inspirations from iconic groups like Run DMC, LL Cool Jay, The Fat Boys, Dougie Fresh & Dana Dane, Luis realized that he too wanted to be a part of this music industry which was paving the way for ones self expression. Around the young age of 10, during Christmas, Luis received his 1st record player from his parents. The problem was that this was just a simple record player with 2 cassette decks. It was highly appreciate but not what was needed to perform the task of becoming a DJ. Within that same year that followed Christmas, Luis found himself needing more than just a record player and started to seek out what else was needed in order for him to be able to become a DJ. He saved whatever money he received and little by little has purchased his 1st DJ set from a local music store. From there on out he would spend all of his money on vinyl records and more upgraded equipment since a basic DJ set and house speakers wasn’t enough.

As time went by with spinning at house parties and basement parties, he would notice the crowd reactions to specific songs that would be played. He quickly took notice to the construction aspect of beat making and strongly believed that he had the talent to do what others were introducing to the industry and therefore began constructing his 1st beat at the age of 16. Being proud of what he had accomplished for the 1st time, he continued to pay more attention to music production. From there on out, he was infatuated with making music, spending any other hard earned cash for studio equipment and breaking night numerous times to learn what he could.

Learning this art on his own, Luis Arroyo who once went by the name of “Smooth” began to re-invent himself and his character later giving himself the name of “Red Diamond”. The name “Red Diamond” is a metaphor for a jewel known as the “Red Diamond”. Its actual color is brown, just like his skin complexion but changes color in the light, looking blood red. Just like the color of the Red Diamond changes so does his skills and abilities. The Red Diamond is considered to be a rare stone, hard to find, very unique and extremely valuable. Luis felt that this stone was a symbol of his personality and gifted talent and just like the stone itself, his talent and abilities was very rare and hard to find.

He knows and understands that one must do it themselves in order to get a head in life.

His style of music is unorthodox with his style of beats ranging from story-telling to destructive modes. He will not only get down on producing Hip Hop tracks, but also R&B, Reggae, Reggaeton, & even House Music.
