Orlando Brown - Biography

Orlando Brown turned heads, stole hearts and amused viewers with his boy-next-door role as Eddie Thomas in the long-running Disney series That’s So Raven (2003-2007). An original cast member of the highly-successful show, audiences have literally watched Orlando grow up on television. That’s So Raven continues to be seen in syndication by millions around the globe, while Orlando remains a fan favorite among viewers of the show.

A 2003 recipient of the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Performance in a TV Series, the charming and comedic actor’s experience expands beyond Raven. Getting his initial break by appearing in a Burger King commercial at the tender age of 5, Orlando has had recurring roles in a string of TV series such as Moesha, Safe Harbor, Malcolm & Eddie, The Jamie Foxx Show, Family Matters, and Waynehead. He also appeared as the witty Cadet Kevin “Tiger” Dunn in the movie Major Payne, starring Damon Wayons. Orlando has also done voiceover work in the TV shows Fillmore, and The Proud Family.

“Being a child actor has been really great for me,” says Orlando, a Los Angeles native. “I got to go to a lot of places and do different things that a lot of kids growing up in the hood just didn’t get the opportunity to do –whether it was traveling to New Zealand, or different states around the U.S., or just eating lobster. The Lord allowed me to fulfill a lot of my blessings very early in life.”

In the autumn of 2008, Fun Quenchers, one of the leading vitamin water manufacturers, announced that Orlando has become one of its spokesmen. The endorsement is a significant move for Orlando, as Fun Quenchers is aggressively marketing its beverages to a growing youth-targeted consumer.

The opportunities continue to flow for Orlando as he transitions into the next phase in his career, and moves from child actor, to adult recording artist. This is a natural progression for the young singer-songwriter, who has been working with the likes of Akon, Ne-Yo, Sean Kingston and rapper G-Malone on his highly-anticipated debut album. Signed under new management , Orlando and his new management team are looking to release a single off the album in early 2009.

Orlando says this is not your typical actor just putting out an album in hopes of expanding their brand. He is a ‘serious’ recording artist looking to compete for airplay, shelf space, touring opportunities and chart share like every other major artist on the scene today. His vocal style is akin to the Gap Band’s Charlie Wilson or R. Kelly, while the music’s vibe and sound will appeal to fans of T-Pain and Lil Wayne.

Orlando will also be boasting a new look and image when launching his new venture. Gone is the pudgy and cute kid; in its place will be a toned and chiseled renaissance man committed to a strict work-out plan and a desire to revamp his image (fans may even notice a few tattoos). In between recording the music, Orlando has been busy writing and developing screenplays under his Young Star Entertainment company. He continues to tape his radio show, Orlando Brown with Dr. Hip Hop, a combination of music, urban lifestyle and positive messages for teens.

The Raven show may have stopped taping new episodes, but Orlando’s fans have remained loyal, and have been waiting a long time to get something new from him. “The fans have taken this trip with me for a long time and are waiting to see what I have in store for them,” he states. “This is a going to be a major turning point for me, my career and the fans. I’ve been working on this music for a while. I’m excited about the musicians and the artists working with me. I’m excited about the new songs, the new direction, and simply waking up this morning. Man, I’m just excited about life. Thank you very much!”
