The Procedure

The Procedure formed in New Jersey in 2001, playing technical metal-influenced hardcore music. After a successful demo and vinyl EP, they signed to New York's famous Blackout! Records. Once The Procedure's debut CD was released, "Rise of New Reason", they toured the East Coast with bands like Marathon, Crime In Stero, and Ensign, playing to both large and small crowds alike. After a short hiatus in 2004, The Procedure returned with their second CD, "Shift Pacific", on their own label, Eyeset World Records. This album saw a shift in The Procedure's sound and style to a more progressive metal sound with a post-hardcore approach. "Shift Pacific" received glowing reviews and was beloved by both critics and fans. In 2009, The Procedure once again entered the studio, churning out a critically acclaimed progressive metal CD entitled "The Ancestor's Tale", named after the book by scientist/atheist author Richard Dawkins. "The Ancestor's Tale" tells a story of mankind's many failures throughout history, and how those failures belie a legacy of bloodshed, destruction, and sadness. "The Ancestor's Tale" is a cautionary tale, however, and a positive beam of hope shines through the bleakness as an inspiration to change the way we see the world and our place within it. The Procedure's lyrics have always advocated rational thinking and progressive socio-political values, and The Ancestor's Tale is no different. Your brain is a gift. Use this gift as a weapon.
